vkkilkenny 11-21-2007, 08:35 PM Name is Phil. Live about 50km from Melbourne. Got a black ltd CRD 7,000km. Heading up to Golden Beach QLD on Saturday for a few weeks - should be a good run. Had oil & filter changed today. My dealer is still confused about service intervals - told me 10,000 then 12,000 then rang me and said 15,000. Today they have gone back to 10,000.... grrrrr.
10,000 is a good number, easy to keep track of.
frequent oil changes is good engine insurance too.
vkkilkenny 11-21-2007, 10:16 PM I agree with you regarding 10,000km. I thought 15,000 was a bit too much so I got it done today at 7,000km - but I did not expect them to tell me AFTER they had done this work "we have checked again and you need to bring it back at 10,000km for service"! - not after spending $200 getting just the oil & filter changed.........

Mud - where did you mount the CB arial and what sort of mount. Also - where did you steal the 12v from?
On the passengers side on the bonnet close to the windscreen, I bought a "lip mount" bracket from Dick Smith, $49.00.
I ran the 12v off the lighter, I couldnt get to it at lighter (gear stick was in the way) but it runs with a bunch of other wires down behind the AC controls (you'll see em when you pull everything apart) its the PINK wire.

My name is Dave, I live in Kalgoorlie and i'm a Jeep Fanatic... "Hi Dave"
Had the silver CRD Limited for about 4 weeks now. Got the tow and Luxury package (Sunroof is awesome.)
Everyone that has seen the little beast loves it and one of my mates is getting one in 2 weeks after seeing mine 2 weeks ago!
I'm looking at getting an aftermarket bullbar (roos are a real pain over here) so hopefully ARB will come to the PatParty!

ive been playing with a couple of designs sofar and to be honest the front end is sp hard to do without disrupting its unique design...maybe we should do a group bulk buy of the front end and just replace em as the roos disrupt thm

good luck with the roo bar - may need to get a fabricator to do the bar
bjflick 11-23-2007, 08:07 AM Hi Guys,
Name is Brad, live in Sydney. Had my Patriot since late August and it just clicked over 4000kms. Great vehicle. Have not had a chance to test how capable it is offroad yet. Up until today had not seen another Patriot on the road in Sydney. Was in Crows Nest at lunch today and parked near a nice Jeep Green CRD Patriot. Unfortunately did not see the owner to say hello. Finally another Pat in Sydney !
some bling shots, the ruber strips on the sides cost 25 dollars from a panel beater supplies, my non intrusive antenna mounts and a bit of grill bling, mudflaps 8 dollars from super cheap

oh and supercheap driving lights(50 bucks);)
driving lights!, are they the ones you've put in the bumper (fog light location).
what barnd model did you get and how hard were they to put in?
M
just a set of cheapies, made a plate out of thin steel and bolted it into the existing reccesses(was a bit fiddly) then used a driving light relay kit and spliced into the high beam line, very easy...yup in the fog light location...getting thru the fire wall etc was easy thats one thing about these cars plenty of room to work
we have to meet up so I can have a look.
do you know brand? how cheap are we talkin?
M
60 buks for the lights and 8 dollars for the relay kit....ill be in Dipswich all week from tommorw if you want to catch up
I still need to know they Brand please :) :) :) and where you get em, they look like a really good fit!
umm threw the pakaging away, but they were a supercheap product, supercheap auto;)

I'm a potential Patriot CRD buyer. Glad to see there is a forum dedicated for the Pat. I do have a question for the Aussie members, have anyone encounter any problems with their Pat? have read a few threads & there are a lot of complaints about the car, from simple to quite serious.
Thanks

welcome !!
plenty of complaints and not much praise, that's how the interweb works :(
my pat is awesome.
It is by no way the perfect car, but it has
good economy (for a 4x4)
relatively good off road ability
plenty of standard features
looks far more expensive than it is
and looks really cool!
My only concern before buying were the reports of sub standard interior plastics. But they are fine. They are far better than those used in a lots of other cars.
My only real problem is a squeaking clutch pedal, which the dealer is yet to work out?
m
vkkilkenny 01-06-2008, 04:45 PM My CRD limited has 13K on the clock now and I am extremely happy with the vehicle. I have seen none of the issues mentioned elsewhere such as water leakage etc. CRD means you will get the manual, so CVT problems do not apply.
damo lux 01-07-2008, 01:12 AM My wife has had her CRD for about two months and 3500km. She works in real estate and wanted a stand out ,economical, cheap, vehicle. She got all three in one!
We are very happy with our Patty, as she calls it, we are in Darwin and have only seen one other up here.
The only thing we are unhappy with is the local dealer service. When we buy another new car, if that dealership is selling the particular vehicle, then we will test drive it from them, then get it from an Adelaide dealer as freight is only $1100. Still waiting on car mats and Owners manual.
We have also had a pipe going to the intercooler split! The vehicle started to loose power and made a noise like the exhaust baffles were gone.

Have a crd limited with sunroof - done 6500k and what a great little softroader - PS they are not a 4x4 no low range
only 2 little things so far a loose piece of trim on top of windscreen and some plastic glue on the sunroof cover a couple of spots of black glue on a light interior looks stupid
the interior is fantatsic so easy to clean
the crd is an amazing beast so much power and torque - towing a flat bed trailor added only .2l per 100k to economy
getting between 6 and 7.5 l per 100k now the engine has settled a little
so only simply things from this patriot owner :smiley_thumbs_up:
jeling 02-21-2008, 04:17 AM Hi all,
New to the forum.
Bought a Diesel Limited Patriot in about November (with Premium Sound:) ). First time 4x4, so it has been quite 'interesting'. Clocked up around 12,000 kms so far.
Love the Patriot. It is very economical, much better than my Subaru RS, which was much lighter.
After buying the car there was a 4 week wait as it was still on a boat, so I thought I would find some cool places to go offroad by searching the internet. Couldn't find any really good websites so 3 months later and a fair amount of coin, we have 4x4earth.com.au, which is the home of the National 4WD Track Database.
It is set up for people like us. The tracks are graded by difficulty. I found out the hard way what happens when you go down a track that is more difficult than you thought. :( No vehicle damage done, but we were stick for a while.
If you are interested check it out, either way hope to see you offroad sometime.
Heading out to Bunyip State Forest on Sunday if anyone is interested.
James
Go the Patriot!
howdy, heaps of good Pat info here, I have registered on 4x4 earth already :)
tasar 02-21-2008, 06:50 AM welcome james - enjoy bunyip - stay on open tracks only - lots shut - cannot make it this weekend

Mud-can i ask what colour of interior comes with the jeep green-i forgot to ask-worrying that it might be beige/cream
trainerdoc 03-24-2008, 07:56 AM Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself.
Just ordered a Patriot 2.4L manual with sunroof and can't wait to get it home. It was reasonably painstaking decision between it and the Wrangler, but the Patriot won out in the end due to family and other (read wife) circumstances. I've never owned an SUV before so it should be fun and interesting. My 5 year old Astra looked after me well but it's time to move on. For the first time ever, I feel that I could possibly really love a car and get right into it! "It's always been a case of just getting from A to B, but I don't want it to be like that anymore. In the 10 minutes that have driven this (a (albeit an auto), I can see more potential than any previous vin, ck I've ever owned. The only thing that slightly Concern, me is the miserly 51.1 L fuel tank, which is smaller than in my wife's Peugeot 308.
Hope to get lots of tips from this forum and hope that one day I may help another who is in the same boat that I've been in.
Cheers,
Derek

Mine has the gray.
I think it is a real dark gray in the newer 08 models now.

welcome!
I just replied to you other post re: noise from exhaust.
yeah fuel tank is a bit small, but you only really notice it on long trips when you have to stop every 400kms or so.

rolex69 12-08-2008, 07:19 AM Ok guys well I will introduce myself as well :)
Name: Paul
Location: 15 minutes out of Melbourne
I recently got rid of my Renault Laguna after serious engine problems - it was time for a change and a good opportunity arose with the Patriot to have some fun off the beaten track. Have had it for just over a month now and have clocked up 8000kms....and I ain't stopping! lol

I noticed that about the fuel tank, too, however the advantage of having a smaller tank is that it looks cheaper when ur filling it up haha
and its even better now that fuel has dropped in price!!
- George - 12-21-2008, 07:16 PM Yup,
If you guys still have any fuel left hehe.:)
the lyton plant is purely diesel but the media caused a panic so lot of servos have run dry of unleaeded aswell
tasar 12-22-2008, 06:21 PM So had QLD got fuel back yet?
this is when you need a long rnage tank in the patriot ....maybe 100litres would be nice

100 ltrs would be nice....
wondering if you could fit a spare tank underbody anywhere.
prob not enough room
Pull the spare out.
Cut and raise the wheel well.
Install drop tank underneath (Torana style).
Install spare on roof rack or custom swing out rear bumper carrier or on bonnet.
what i want is to get Chrysler Australia to get them lpg rated so we can do duel fuel, had a barina converted was a long time between refuels, a donut tank will fit perfectly in the spare tyre well
bicsarebest 02-05-2009, 05:53 PM Hello everyone.
I'm Sarah. I live in Sydney. Looking to sell my 2007 Black 5 door manual YRS Yaris (10,000Ks - message me if interested :)) and I want to buy a Jeep Patriot. I'm planning on moving to Tasmania by June - as soon as I get a job over there I'll pretty much be off. So I thought that I needed something a bit more rugged than my little Yaris as I'll be driving a lot, and driving on winding hilly roads, often frosty roads and - gasp - maybe snow .
I seem to be having a very hard time even getting a test drive of a Patriot. My nearest dealer has to order one in - said it would be in on Wednesday (2 days ago), now it will be in this afternoon (we'll see). The second nearest dealer from me won't allow me to take the vehicle out for 2 hours. What does a girl have to do to get a decent test drive round here! Do these Jeep dealers want to sell cars or not . Why is it so difficult?
Anyway, while waiting for a test drive of a Jeep I've become fond of the Suzuki Grand Vitara. If anyone has driven one of these I'd be eager to hear about your opinions on the Grand Vitara v the Patriot.

the vitara is a a low range 4x4 - the patriot is awd only
they both come with a crd - which is the best option in the patriot
so really depends on which car you like - both are very good little vehicles
I considerd a Grand Vitara, but the Patriot just looked cooler!
- George - 02-10-2009, 06:52 AM I second that.
Vitara will lose its appeal in a short time, the Patriot wont.
benno 02-26-2009, 02:38 AM Howdy all!
Shouting out from Perth, thought I'd say g'day. Been reading the forums for a while and you've helped convince me that a patriot was the best way to go, not long away now, just waiting for someone to buy my car....
