Hello all, hoping that someone can give me some feedback on how their Pat as handled the rough stuff. I have had no problems but does anyone have any horror stories?

Hi Jonno
Youre not the only who has got his rims muddy. My Jeep has spent the whole winter carrying my working dogs all over the Quantocks and Exmoor. The tyres fitted , Continental were the only shortfall and they will be changed for next winter. The snow ability of the tyres was non existent especially on hills. As long as drivers are aware of the patriots short coming regarding wading depth and lack of low range the ability of the Patriot is really good.
Like I said next year a change of tyres will see me going everywhere Freelanders go. The only problem I have is getting a straight swop on tyres. The 215/60/17 size is not a common one for good off road tyres with a good road balance. I am having to wait for October to get the ones I want imported.

hatter, great to see you using your Patriot in its Natural enviroment, mine is just a street daily driver & love it. Your standard wheels should take 225.65.17 without probs. I have Pirrelli Scorpion SRT on mine , fast road use with very limited mud/snow capabilities, you could do with something more aggressive.Mine are just stock size.

Cheers Hatter, echo tiptronic on the good work getting out and about, nobody has rated these Conti's on the snow. I have also experienced the tyre availability issue and have decided to get a lift kit from Australia to allow me to get bigger tyres on the stock rims with sero rub and agree that with different tyres it will go anywhere Freelanders go. I have took it a fair way off the gray stuff and am impressed with how well it handles it. I also got a price to import 16" steel wheels from US if your interested? £680! Glad to hear you have't had any major probs, what spec is yours and have you had any issues at all?

Thanks Tip,

Will look at trying to source decent winter tyres in the size you quote, nothing really available in the stock size.

The contis were rubbish last winter. I have also looked at the options and have gone for Nokian 225's as advertised on mytyres. The Nokians are great on snow, but not a full off road tyre. I had them on a previous XC90 and also an ML, where they were way better than the std tyre. I got to like them so much that I kept them on year-round. Not much extra noise and a nice positive feedback to drive.
