xjtke611 12-13-2006, 04:39 PM OUTSTANDING!!!
charlieB 12-13-2006, 06:00 PM Compared to other vehicles we have priced,it is still reasonably priced.
Rottenbob 12-13-2006, 06:45 PM I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping it would start at $13,995 like the Caliber. I'll have to wait until I see this vehicle in person before I make a decision about it. Some vehicles look much better in photos than in real life, and vice versa (for instance, the Jeep Compass looks quite a bit better in person than in the photos, in my opinion). If I really like the looks of it when I see it in real life, I'll want to wait a year or so to see if Chrysler starts offering rebates on it and/or if dealers start discounting it. Additionally, if Ford ever gets it's act together and starts producing that retro Bronco (google "2004 ford bronco") I'll have to consider that.
aliens8443 12-13-2006, 07:39 PM i'm sure they'll be having rebates on it pretty soon. they already have rebates on the compass (although not as much as on a JGC or Commander), but for the price, it's not horrible.
Pjohnst 12-13-2006, 10:32 PM What is the base model going to look like though compared to the pictures we have seen? Have we only seen Limited pictures?? What type of wheel will they be? any plastic??

I don't see how this can be disappointing at all. Firstly, the Caliber starts at $14,135, not $13,995 (not a huge difference, but nontheless...) Secondly, I believe the Caliber fits more closely with the Compass rather than the Patriot, which starts at $15,985. The Patriot appears to have the same interior as the Compass, with what looks like a bit more hauling capacity in the rear. With a cheaper base price than the Compass by $1,000 and costing only $850 more than the Caliber (which by the way comes standard with a measily 1.8L 148 hp gerbil wheel. I'd gladly pay the extra $850 to get the 2.4L 172 hp hampster wheel.

Pjohnst 12-15-2006, 11:29 AM Is the Patriot Sport 4x2 only available in manual?

superdave 12-15-2006, 01:39 PM the press release says that the manual is standard on the sport but the cvt2 is an available option. And since the 4x2 compass sport is available in an automatic I would expect the patriot to have the same. In fact, at the dealerships in my area, there are far more automatics than standards.

The Sport will look the same as the Limited minus that silver thing on the bumpers. 16"x6.5" styled steel rims are standard. 17"x6.5" cast aluminum are optional. (15x6 or 15x7 should be standard! That would allow more tire options) Even if the rims change, Jeep rarely uses those fulgy plastic cover things.
Is the Patriot Sport 4x2 only available in manual?
The 4x2 Patriot should have a CVT option, just like the Compass.
silvermike 12-16-2006, 08:34 AM The test website has pricing up.
