OK, so I know it was 105% my fault, trying to quickly reverse in a very dark road to turn around, but I really didn't hit the post that hard and it's left a 2 inch crack in the rear bumper !!
Anyone know the cost of a new bumper by the time it's been painted & fitted ?
As I've only had the pat around 4 months I want it fixed and am debating on whether do go through insurance. I only have a £50 excess and fully protected no claims.
Anyone also know the cost of the reversing kit ?
Still can't believe it cracked that easily, but that may be due to what the old Wrangler could take and come out unscathed.

Bummer. My own experience a few years ago with a Honda rear bumper skin was handled by insurance. Pretty expensive, I'm sorry to say.

if I was in your situation I would look at some custom bumpers like these http://www.kenmtnac.com/Patriot.html
they cost about 450 for the rear and by the time you get a new bumper and it painted the custom bumper would cost you about the same. The best part would be that if you hit the same post again you would put a dent in the post and not your bumper.

Those bumpers do look rather nice. I wonder how much shipping would be to the UK.....
Just asked for a couple of quotes from companies that can repair plastic bumpers, by effectivly heating the crack to stick it back together and a touch of re-painting. It looks fairly impresive on the website.

I would get the Kennesaw Bumper having backed into a tree myself. Luckily I didn't break anything, but the black mat on top of my bumper has a slight bubble.

I did a nice little number on my bumper yesterday and I have no one to blame but myself for not paying attention. In a crowded parking lot at the Lowe's with snow piled up everywhere I backed into a cement planter box. Scraped the entire underneath of the back bumper, one medium size gouge. What's really bugging me is the top of the bumper, right under where it says "Patriot" the paint is completing off and black chips are showing thru. It looks awful! When it warms up I got some touch up paint and will try to at least cover the black chips. Am I correct in assuming the entire bumper is plastic? Should I be concerned about anything rusting in the meantime.
