I'm trying to put together a meet and greet in PA. Like the Harrisburg/York area. I am actually from the South Central PA area, Hanover. If anyone is interested, I want to set it up for early December.

South Eastern PA here... (I work in Newtown Square). I could be up for a little drive assuming i don't have to travel for work that day.

Cool....I'm trying to get 10 or more up for something. So if you know anyone let them know.

I'm 2 hours east of Hanover and would be interested in anything between here and there. Setting a date will be a problem this time of year as my calendar is crowded with the usual holiday related parties, family obligations and travel. Add me to the list and keep me informed. Thanks, Earl

what if we meet up a lake or something and then take a cruise some where on a back road or to some other place like a diner something like that would be fun

You can just cruise US30, that road's a challenge for any vehicle. :D

There's always Wharton State forest in South Jersey. Mud, sand and water and legal.
I still want to get back there when I finally get a weekend off.

NJ, north NJ? Think that all sort of defeats the point of a South Central PA meet.

i see that you're from allentown. i went to school at lehigh. i haven't been back there since i graduated (almost a year ago), so i haven't been able to see the Sands casino construction progress. do they have the building up yet? any word on when it will open?

driver12

its coming along. alot of my friends work there building it, but the just had a big job fair so i assume that it wont be very long till it opens. they put a hold on the hotel its just casino now.

nice nice. i had a construction management course at lehigh and we toured the initial construction and did a project based off of the construction specifics.

i know someone who is a civil engineer who is working with one of the contract firms. it begins with a "B"...maybe it's "Butler" or something...I forget.

so they put the hotel on hold? makes sense...the casino is what will be the money maker...people can just stay in the other surrounding hotels for now. once the Sands becomes profitable and built up then they can open up the hotel.

do you know anything about what the outdoor mall will be like?

oh ok. well i'm really sorry to hear about you losing your job. have you thought about getting in contact with lehigh for a shop tech position? we have several shops on campus. not sure if they are hiring but it's worth a shot...

So, I have been out of the loop for a while, had my first child in the last couple of months. But now I'm gong ho on this. So I have put together some ideas, and some information on meeting up. I was thinking that the end of March early April would be the perfect time. Lots of snow melting and mud all around.

I found this park Rausch Creek Off Road Park (http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/index.php) it is big and has a lot of trails. You can take a day trip or camp out on the grounds.

I would like to start getting people's info to get the ball rolling on this meet and greet. Email me at iconmediapro@yahoo.com and provide the following.

Which Weekend you want the Meet and Greet? (you can pick a single day or weekend date)
March 28 and or 29th
April 4th and or 5th

How many people in your party?

Let me know by March 20th and i hope we can do this.

Note that Rausch Creek can be pricey and requires a dedicated tow point. While this is obviously a good idea for any offroading, it is not stock on many Pats...

I would be in if I would get my hitch installed before hand (no tow point otherwise).

JeepNewbee
03-05-2009, 09:15 AM
So with all of the consensus that Rausch Creek will be too hard on stock pats, and looking very hard for an alternative, i have found that we would try to do local dirt back roads. I have found a lot near Pine Grove Furnace State Park (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/pinegrovefurnace.aspx), which opens on April 3rd.
So the Date would be April 4th or 4th and 5th. For those that want to camp out.

If you want to look at the surrounding area on Mapquest or Google maps you can see un-named roads that are public. Let me know what you think.

Dirt roads and some camping sounds good to me... I got myself a new tent for Christmas (nothing like a 5 man tent and I will most likely be going alone... :p ).

Oh, and PS, regarding the construction company in Allentown, was it Butz Construction? Butler fabricated pre-engineered buildings, so I guess it could have been them too (I work in the structural engineering field).

driver12
03-05-2009, 02:38 PM
i have a jeep tent that sleeps at least 8 people no problem, but like you said i might only have one person with me.

I've posted up over on the-jersey-devil.com looking for some light trails that might work. They're a NJ 4x4 club so they might have some ideas for us.

So if everyone agrees, we will meet at Pine Grove Furnace State Park (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/pinegrovefurnace.aspx) on April 4th and 5th. I have set up a Central PA Social Group (http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/group.php?groupid=17) which we can talk about the details.
