Dan,
Regardless, hope all goes well. I know the excitement of a first child; and second, and third. Don't blink, though, they grow up reeeaal fast. My baby is now 29. But, that's impossible, cause I'm only 30 myself!

wait till the birth...

There are very few real surprises left in life. We waited to find out for both of ours and it made the event all that much more special.

Wait to find out.

Don't let anyone know what the names are that you are considering until the baby is born and named - people will find ways to try to talk you out of names you really like.

Congrats! Life is going to get really interesting for you. You are about to go from experiencing life thru a 7" B&W tv to a 52" wide screen high def tv!

...Don't blink, though, they grow up reeeaal fast!..
That is sooo very true. Make sure to go out to a nice quiet meal and go see a good movie in the theater before the baby is born because those things will be back burnered for several years as the world of Blue's Clues and Thomas The Train takes over.

Arguing with a hormonal pregnant woman about the color of the sky is dangerous...If she wants to know the sex before its born , Im not arguing ,hehe ..anyone feel like stepping in on that one feel free to call any time LOL.

Guys have the hardest part of pregnancy.

While the woman goes thru these mood swings (and doesn't remember them) it is our job to joyfully and quietly be on the receiving end. There is a lot you will need to just let roll off your back and roll with it. Do what you need to to keep her happy and not complain. Things will get better.. just know that the other dad's have been there too and know what your going thru.

This helps you get ready for the little ones arrival and builds up your ability to handle a crying baby in stride.

It is a roller-coaster and the the highlights more than make up for the struggles.

I was going to say a Boy. Congrats............. Girls are fun, then we grow up, get hormonal, then it's hell for most parents. After spending a few hours with my brother's best friends one year old son..........I said I want boys, he cracked me up. He's not much of a talker, he's a thinker. I took him with me and he was cracking me up, shhhhwoooosh shhhhhwoooosh. I told my brother about it he goes was it when he was seeing cars. I said I don't know but he cracked me up.

When the going gets rough, remember this about raising kids... the first twenty years is the worst.

08slvrpat...

Trust me on this... My daughter just had her first child. All along, after each sonogram, the techs would proclaim, as well as her doctors, "You're gonna have a baby girl!"

This past Wednesday, she gave birth to a handsome 9 lb baby boy!
