The Jeep Engineers are pleased to announce that they will be holding another Online Event to discuss the Grand Cherokee.

This Jeep Engineering Event will give everyone the opportunity to share questions and thoughts about the Grand Cherokee with the people who know these vehicles inside and out.

This Q&A will take place on Wednesday October 24th from 5-7pm EST. Simply click here (http://www.jeep.com/grand_cherokee/index.html?pid=Forum&adid=GrandCherokee102407) to visit the Jeep Grand Cherokee Homepage. A link to the event site will appear at the bottom of the page.

Once there you can click on “Jeep Engineering- Q&A” and take a look at previous, archived events and start thinking of any questions you might want to ask. Be prepared to type!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Come on Sean we want a Q&A session with the engineers about the patriot. There have been quite a few issues that have come up and I'm sure there would be plenty of people willing to take part in the discussion.

If you have any clout and wish to show the Patriot owners here you mean business then you should make this happen.

All those in favour of a Patriot discussion with the engineers say AYE !!

You can try but more than likely they will just ignore the questions or do a "We are only here to discuss this particular model"

They started doing these at the beginning of the year on Jeep Forum (http://www.jeepforum.com) here's a link to the 5 discussions they've had so far http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=144

Sean......Sean........anyone there.................Hello ???
Yes, Sean is here. I've been doing a little investigating for you...

Okay people, here's the scoop. For a while these engineering forums have been centered around Jeep nameplates with a little more lineage. A Patriot Q&A had been discussed, but there were some concerns that there was not enough enthusiast interest to support it. This thread gives me a strong case for why they should maybe consider it in the future.

So, I'm going to get some information together and pass it along to the powers-that-be. I can't promise anything, but I can say that the idea will be revisited somehow.

The more you talk, and the more support you drum up, the better chance we have of convincing them to greenlight a Patriot Q&A. And it looks like that's something you guys might be interested in :)

Firstly thank you Sean for your reply. Surely the number of forum members here shows there is plenty of enthusiast interest and with the membership increasing every week it can only get better.

I'm sure there isn't anyone here on the forum that wouldn't be interested in having a tech talk with the vehicle manufacturer, and think how good it looks to the Jeep owners if someone at Jeep HQ is listening to their concerns.

It would seem Jeep would be more interested in having a Q&A with owners of a NEW line of vehicle. To find out what works and doesn't, what problems there are and how it is being received.

I read thru some of the archives of past Q&A's and it's mostly things like..
"My CJ has double brock headers with zagot wheels and manifold pressure johnson rods. I am trying to get another 5 hp from the screamer box but my control arm is dangling. What is the clearance of the scooby womber?"

Nice stuff for gear heads but nothing very real.

but I dunno..... ;)

Jim

ps.. oh yea.. and thanks Sean!

Pluuuusss.....

What would it hurt(or cost) if they DID have a Patriot chat and no one showed up.

I mean this is not a press conference or an unveiling of a vehicle you have fly people and transport vehicles to...

You sit a engineer or 2 in front of a computer and turn on a chat app....
Done.

If no one showed up maybe they would finally realize no one knows becasue they are not telling anyone.

but .. I double dunno....

...we could give Sean our questions here and he could take them back to Jeep and get them answered. Then post them here, and we saved everybody time.

Regardless of whether or not engineers are present, the questions will be the same. I'll break them into several schools:

"Why didn't and when will you make it stronger?"

1.) When is a diesel coming?
2.) Will it be available with the CVT2L?
3.) Why is the transmission unable to handle more torque and Hp?
4.) Why not strengthen the damned CVT in the first place and are there any plans to go with a standard automatic in the future?
5.) Why didn't you make articulation and wheel travel a bit better for the off-road model?

"Personal Complaints"

6.) Why does my Patriot lose power going up a steep grade at high altitude?
7.) Why does my hood rattle?
8.) Why does my roof leak?
9.) Why did my rear glass fly off in the wind?
10.) Why does my dash rattle?

"General Complaints"

11.) Why is the CVT loud?
12.) Why is the in-dash GPS not a touch screen?
13.) Why can't I change my GPS course while the vehicle is in motion?
14.) Why can't I remove the rear center headrest?
15.) Why are the headrests uncomfortable?

"What modifications can I make"

16.) What will give me better mpg?
17.) Does Mopar have any aftermarket plans?
18.) Can I put a limited-slip differential on the back?
19.) How can I increase horsepower?

"Curiosities"

20.) Which is better off-road, the patriot or...?
21.) What is the difference between the Off-road Brake Traction Control and a limited slip? Which is better?
22.) How did all the defects make it past you guys?

There....start with those and all the others bound to be tagged on, and you have a good summary of what the engineers can expect along with the occasional: "My dog thinks the back is uncomfortable. Why don't you guys come up with some Jeep doggy mats?"
