Thought I read somewhere on here that windex or any other ammonia based window cleaner is bad news for tinted windows. Can anybody confirm or deny? If so, what works best for the back windows?

Windex with ammonia is bad in general on car interiors. It's a bit strong.

It is DEATH to aftermarket tint. Turns it purple.
However, except for overspray that might get on the interior it does not really damage factory tint like on your back windows.

However, however, even saying this it's best to avoid the ammonia windex inside all together.

Non ammonia windex works, although it's still pretty strong, or pick up a nice glass cleaner from an auto store.

I tried this (http://www.autogeek.net/stoninglas.html) recently and it really works well. Only one problem. Munchies and cotton mouth.

I use Sprayway Glass Cleaner on the inside of my LLumar tinted windows. I'm sure that it will work just as well on the stock interior window tint.

I bought a few cans from the tint shop that did my windows for $3.00/can and am very pleased with it. It works great!

I didn't find that it was strong enough on the outside windows though, so I continue to use Stoner's Invisible Glass on them, which I find to work much better than Windex.

I'm also sold on the California Duster for dusting the interior and exterior between washes, and microfiber cloths from Sam's Club - 25 for $10 - dampened with a little bit of plain water for the dash, dash plastic in front of the gauges, and the radio face.

Here's the Sprayway link . . .

x2 for the Stoner cleaner. It's not as common as a lot of others but it came in my goody bag at Carlisle a couple of years ago and I've used it ever since.

Add another yea vote for Invisible Glass. I haven't seen anything work as well for the outside of the windows as that stuff (well, inside also for that matter). Like part of their commercial says. "it'll change your perception of clean." They weren't kiddin'..:smiley_thumbs_up:

Use EagleOne 20/20...best ever! First started using it in 2001, and have never tried anything else since...
