Hi, gang!

Just wanted to pop in and say whuzzup... and, of course, to thank you again for your kindness and support. The messages and comments I've received from you have touched my heart and really helped me as I move (slowly) through this process of grieving/healing. Again, you guys & gals are the best!

I haven't been on the computer much lately; just haven't had the motivation or desire... plus, I've been spending a lot of time with hubz, our friends, and Jason's family and working on memorial projects for all of us. Love and memories combined with creativity is a powerful tool in this process, and one that will richly reward me with beautiful results that Jason's other loved ones and I will cherish.

On the Patriot Front, we're still aiming for about mid-2008 for our Riot. We're going to sell my Cav' privately because I'll get thousands more that way than through trade-in. If (fingers crossed!) I get accepted to the Art Institute here in town, my tuition will be higher than the other university that accepted me, so that might tack on extra months that I need to save up... but in that timeframe, there'll be more used Pats on the market and we might find one that fits our specs so we won't have to build our own and spend more.

Anyhoo, just wanted to check in... I'm sure there are a lot of threads that need my attention, so I'll browse through 'em this weekend.

PEACE!
meg

P.S. We were right next to a sharp and sleek black Pat a few days ago for quite some time on the road, which gave us ample opportunity to study the features and road handling. The first thing Dean said, though, was "Ugh, dear god, what were they thinking with that muffler? That will have to go!" I told him no worries, it can be painted and I know how thanks to my friendly and informative pals here on the site! :D

Thank you so much.

I know there's a wealth of info (and funny stuff!) that I need to check out.

On a very positive and exciting note, I have an appointment this weekend with the Director of Admissions at the Art Institute here in town!!! Not to toot my own horn, but I floored her with my phone interview yesterday and cannot wait to meet her and check out the campus; she insisted that I bring Dean, too, which I thought was really cool. She was blown away by my passion and really impressed with my goal to incorporate my (soon-to-be?!) BA in Interior Design with environment-, animal-, and psychologically-friendly styles and set-ups that I would utilize in shelters, sanctuaries, and zoos. I'm still set on getting my Masters and Doctorate in Psychology (specialization in Animal Behavior) and would utilize the knowledge and skills from the Interior Design BA to ensure that animals and their caregivers are in healthy, happy surroundings. Plus it'll be a nice way to rake in the dough while I'm in the uber-expensive postgrad Psych programs in Denver!

Anyhoo, I'm very excited about that... though I'm dreading my math midterm tonight... ugh... math groan/shudder :p

Take your CAV to craigslist. It worked very well for me.

Remember, if you're ever up this way stop by for a cold pint or hot coffee.

Welcome Back Meg! Hope the healing process is well under way for you!

Which A-I are you considering? Former employer was the auditor for their parent company and I visited many of the schools (they have over 70 across the US and Canada)

Ok, ya gotta help me here Megs...

Did I read that stuff right? You want to design Frank Lloyd Wright Doggie Dorms? DewDropInn Cat Houses? (no, wait..not THOSE cat houses)
Are you going to test the theory that soft colors calm pooches as well as mankind?
Will dogs drool less in a mauve room? Will cats care?
Is there anyone on these forums you can help with the Psych/Animal behavior goobledygook?

Help us here Megs..it sounds like you're doing something rather unique (and slightly over my head in comprehension). :D

(uhh, you're on your own in the math dept though..)

hahahahaha You're such a dork! :D

My main job (after getting the PhD of course) will be an Animal Behavior Therapist / Consultant, primarily focusing on animals in shelters, sanctuaries, and zoos. (I'll also utilize my love of photography and writing to document and publish my experiences.) I think it would provide me a powerful and informative edge to have a background in Interior Design to ensure that the living arrangements for these animals are conducive to their well-being and productivity ~ think "Furry Feng Shui!" Basically, just as the colors, placements, arrangements, and other characteristics of our environments affect us people psychologically, they also affect animals in the same way.

I'm really excited about this new spin on my future profession...and am thrilled to be able to "save the world one animal at a time" through my passions for the arts and academia.

I think pet feng shui (http://www.redlotusletter.com/Pets.html) is the proper placement and sweater for your pet. Or is it color coordinating them with the furniture...

Good to hear from you Meg. Welcome back.

Psychology huh? Hmm, maybe we should talk. Apparently I have some gift for it. I say that because my wife and friends continually tell me I should be in therapy. :)

It's the Art Institute here in town - Jacksonville, FL. A plus is that the campus is downtown; just 5-10 minutes away from home and 15 away from work!!!

Didn't have the pleasure of hitting up any of the AI's in Florida unfortunately. :(

Now that I think of it, not sure if that's the same group...checking now...

ah, yes, that's them!!!!!!

VERY good schools - best of luck.

Word to the wise - if they have a culinary program (and associated restaurant) you get 4-star quality cooking for about a quarter of the price. Keep it in mind!!!!
