Hello gang, got a funny story for you, for the last day and a half or so I had been noticing a squeek that sounds like it was comming from the passenger door. My jeep is only a little over 2 weeks old and I was starting to get annoyed that something was squeeking already.
Ok here's the funny part, I opend the door a couple times while moving, on a quiet side street of course, and still heard the squeek. I thought that was a bit odd, so I leaned over and put my hand down on the passenger seat and the squeak stopped.
I was like.... hmmm.. what's the deal. So I moved the passenger seat back one notch and guess what..... yep the squeak stopped. Man I felt dumb. It totally sounded like it was comming from the door. Basically the seat was not latched in a notch and was infact sqeaking.
Just thought I'd share this little nugget if anyone starts hearing a sqeaky noise that sounds like its probly comming from the passenger door, check the passenger seat adjustment and move it a notch forward or back, might help, ya never know.

I brought my new Patriot home and got out to take a look, and I could see the marker light on the left was on, but not the one on the right. I called up the dealership and they said they could fit me in the following Saturday. That Saturday, I started it up in the garage to take it in so they could look at it... but I wanted to look one more time to make sure I told them the correct light to look at. Funny thing was, BOTH lights were off. That was odd. I pulled it out of the garage so I had more room to look, and now the left light was on again, but not the right. I was really confused, and then it occurred to me. Imagine the embarasment when I had to call up the dealership and tell them to cancel the appointment because it was just sunlight being reflected... oh I felt dumb that day!

I have a squeek one for you that just happened to me today.
I was on a 2 lane road that was a little bumpy and a buzzing started somewhere up front. I didn't know if it was the windshield, the front dash, somewhere UNDER the dash, or what. I was driving and searching for this elusive squeek/buzz for over 5 minutes. I got frustrated (thinking about calling the dealership and getting into their backsides over this) and just reached up and grabbed the garage door opener that was clamped onto the sun visor. Yep..buzz stopped. *grumble*
Good thing I didn't make that call yet, huh? :o
(really glad to see other people screwing up as bad as I do..thanks!)

Right on...me too. had my partner actually sitting in the passenger seat and the squeaking was driving me battie.
Had him slide the seat back and forth a bit and it was gone.

I had the same experience with the passenger side front seat squeak. Moving it forward or back seems to solve the problem for a while but the squeak does return in time.
I had another "squeak" experience while driving down 2-trackers in the Merritt Island Florida National Wildlife Refuge. This time the noise was coming from the driver's side. A little checking found that the silver door lock was vibrating enough to rub on the door trim and buzz when on rough road. It doesn't happen enough to be a major complaint. If it gets worse, I may unscrew the lock and widen the hole it protrudes through.

Driver door had a squeak at 1 week old.
Used the "preferred" white grease.... opening & closing
the squeaking door trying to get it to stop, re-lubed
& tried again.... at least 4 times...I finally gave
up & got the" super-tech spray (walmart generic) (similar to WD-40)
that took care of it has not squeaked since.....

Hi everyone,
I have an 08' Compass or "Com-patriot" Sport North just bought in March 2008
It too, had the passenger seat squeeking, I was pissed to say the least!....
Ended up blasting the thing with WD40 and it has been quiet since.
I also have 2 squeeks in the rear end, I suspect is has something to do with the shocks, as it's definitly not break related. It's SOO embarassing. I'm very much starting to regret my purchase :(
