: sun visor stickers
so the airbag warning sticker on the sun visor of my patriot was peeling a bit so I decided to tear the thing off... it didn't work too great, I have some residue left behind
I used a hairdryer and that seemed to work better but there's still stuff there
so I'm thinking I can either try to clean the residue off (not too succesful), try to get a replacement sticker and put it on properly, or buy a new sun visor
how much do you think it would cost to get a sun visor and do you think the dealer would have extra airbag warning stickers?
I by principal hate all those 'idiot stickers' that they put on new cars. So the first thing I did when driving back home was to peel them all off. 2 per visor and soon after realized they left the glue on the visors when taken off. So 4 blotches on the visors at the moment.
I'm thinking of using a light solution of textile degreaser on the visors which has worked wonders in the past for me. If this doesn't work I'll see what I come up with next.
I'm pretty sure that the glue will dry out in the sun quite fast and it will be possible to 'rub if off' but I'm too much in a hurry to fix the problem to wait around.. ;)
Ollie18 09-26-2007, 08:44 AM From what I understand, it is illegal to remove those stickers by government regulation. But I have no idea how they can cite you for it...Might want to do some research on it. Most of the stickers even say "Do not remove".
Dmentd_Dan 09-26-2007, 10:11 AM Recover them in an accent color or in suede. some visors pop apart with lego type connectors holding them together and others are glued (just reglue if this is the case). either way this is an easy mod. lots of people do this on dodge rams
too get detailed instructions go to dodgetalk.com and do a search on visors.
MYITLOG 09-27-2007, 12:11 AM Try going to your local hardware store and check if they have some gue remover.. it useually take out those kinda stuffs..

They will have to fight the mattress tag police for me.
goo gone
I would be afraid goo gone or similar would stain the fabric of the visor.

That's sad. So sad :D No such laws here, our government trusts us to know how to drive sane once we get our driver's license and read the manual if we're interested in how airbags work.:smiley_thumbs_up:

That's why our lawyers are richer than your lawyers. :carryflag:
Ollie18 09-27-2007, 07:45 AM Hey - I'm just throwing it out there...what you do is up to you...just do not come crying when something happens and you get yourself in hot water or whatever...there is probably a reason why it is not just a vinyl sticker that can easily be pulled off... ;)
quasimodem51 09-27-2007, 08:45 AM I knew a woman who removed the pillow tags from her new pillows. She would have been 33 on her next birthday.

Edit: oh - and perfrom at your own risk...
or you could consider setting up some sort of group buy for Visor plaques... a lot of other forums I've been to get these to cover their stickers.
Like this (only not so lame!)

Worked like a dream!
SoDak-Jeep 10-04-2007, 12:48 AM I just did this monday night and it worked quite nicely. Takes some time but well worth the results !
The funny part is I just pulled the stickers off then steamed off the glue, I wish I would have steamed the labels off too, I know it would have been way easier. But again well worth the time spent.

Sort of like removing the tags/labels from pillows.:D

My first ram was Canadian spec and I had the same sticker situation. The stickers on top are french/english and the stickers underneath are the standard us sticker that is spanish/english.
Tony1911 11-17-2007, 02:08 PM our government trusts us
Well that's news to me! :wow:
This would be the same government that doesn't trust people to carry pocket knives? Or buy matches if you are not 18? Or a million other examples I could cite?
Sorry for the off-topic mini-rant, this is just a topic that has bugged me very much and for a long, long time. (And now, moving to another country doesn't really seem to solve anything. The whole world seems to be going down the drain... :( )
