Did you guys see the FJ concept at SEMA? It is a 4.7 V8 Supercharged version with a electronically retracting soft-top, apower rear window, and a small truck bed.

Also, it had a 3 inch lift with 33" tires on 18" wheels. If Toyota is coming up with this type of vehicle, they are at least gunning for the H3, Liberty, and possibly even the Wrangler Unlimited.

I saw it online... not bad. If it only had real doors for the rear seats...

I like the looks of the 2009 HUMMER truck (http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/09/new-hummer-truck-coming-in-2009/) much better. Make it a diesel and it will be a huge seller!!

I like the FJ's...and I like the H3's. However, to me, both just look to damn big for any use on the trails. At my cottage, we have tight trails....A wrangler would work, and I'd bet a XJ would too. Anything bigger than that wouldn't be able to negotiate the trails.

I'm hoping the Patriot will be small enough.

However, I do think the FJ with the soft top looks nice. It doesn't have those huge pillars to block the rear visability.

I have done my share of 7 pointed turns getting a full-sized rig down a trail or two.

I hope that the Patriot has a good turning radius... I am not sure how tight a front wheel drive can spin one.

I like the FJ. Good history, excellent company and good offroad. Not a fan of the white roof but a softtop is a great idea.

The Hummer 'Truck' on the other hand..... Not so much. Hummers are trucks right? The H1 is based on of the AM General M998 HMMWV. The H2 is a boxy Chevy Suburban. And the H3 is based on the Chevy Colorado. All trucks right? Besides the Hummer 'Truck' looks like a H3 with a colorado bed welded to the back of it. Hummer should make the Hummer 'Truck' call it the H3T and put a diesel in it. Then maybe, just maybe, DC would finally produce a Jeep 'Truck.' Whether its the Gladiator, Scrambler, or Brute DC needs to do something....

We had a half hour to kill while waiting on the Toy lot to get the little Scion xB's free oil change, so... we checked out the Highlander and the FJ.

The Highlander doesn't have a low range... no need to look any longer at that one.

The FJ's rear doors actually swing a little downward when opening! weird. The back seat would require some serious gymnastics to get a little one into a rear facing carseat back there! It might be capable offroad... I won't know. It was too hard to get in and out of the rear seats for our family.
