Hello,
For those in the Mid-Atlantic area, there is a little group going to the George Washington National Forest in VA to ride a trail or two on Saturday the 21st. Anyone else want to show up and have some fun? Here is the thread: http://www.novajeepers.com/index.php?name=NewForums&file=viewtopic&t=33775

And the park= http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/gwj/index.shtml

If wanted to go but not create a NOVA Jeepers account, contact me and I'll tell them how many to expect.

Since it was a small group, okay just a few of us, and we sort of had to keep moving to hit most fun spots, and I didn't think to have the camera out at a couple rough spots, all I have are these pics from GWNF "Flagpole" trail ride with two Wranglers. I went all but one place the other guys went because I chickened out at the last moment. It was a 25 foot long series of aggressive angular rock tables on a moderate climb/descent (there was a loop to go either way or bypass). This was after making it past a longer and steeper run of smaller rock tables, which was unnerving since it was my first true wheeling experience.

I learned a great deal about my Patriot and riding in very rough terrain. Now I know how the hill descent control operates (good for when micro-management is not needed, i.e. spots where rocks force ALL vehicles towards tree... following spotters and finesse works better then). The low range OFF ROAD/4WD mode on the FDII works great! (remember to disable ESP to turn-off hill descent control) Little gas was required to climb, things would get steep and I'd give a little more gas just incase- and would almost fly over the incline peaks (but took the rocky ones slow-n-steady)

There was one spot with some great wide mud pits but some had high centers and one exit was VERY steep. I came up the steep one with no complaint from the engine nor wheels, but the poor Riot's rear must still be sore. Amazingly the scrapes and bangs througout the day were either absorbed by the skids or only scraped the undercoating from the underbody :notworthy:
