When I picked up my Pat last Friday, the dealer and the service dept. could not get the Sirius going. After a long time of trying different things, including several calls to Sirius, we decided to bring it back in later and replace the Sirius box completely this coming Friday.

Before that happens I wanted to ask if this has happened to anyone else here and if there is something else to try (I would rather not turn in my Pat for the day....). To narrow things down the following things were checked:

wires connecting to and from the box, the radio, and the antenna
service is activated
sky was clear and unblocked
channel 184 was on and car running
radio was switched out

There was no text saying the usual "Antenna is not hooked up" or anything else for that matter. Just silence.

Any clues?

Also, I checked the status of my account online (does everyone know that you can use your account to listen online as part of the deal?) and according to Sirius I have a 9-month trial period that began the beginning of August. I don't think so!! My invoice states 12 months of Sirius and I didn't receive my car until last week (Sept. 14). I'll let the dealership sort it out. :o

Thanks!!

Sometimes the sat radio boxes are faulty. I have seen it several times on Audis and VWs as well. they just need to replace it. No big deal.

About the trial...for sure. The service should not start until the day you took delivery. The dealer should be activating it, not the port/plant, which it sounds like happened here. Should also be a quick fix for them.

Keep us posted.

I had one that had the wrong ESN number printed on it, once you get a new box everything should be great.

svorg: A couple of things...

Is the service REALLY activated? That is, does the SID that displays on your screen map to the SID that Sirius has on file? You mentioned a radio was switched out. Was the replacement activated before the switch out? As in, did you know the replacement worked?

Also, I don't believe the antenna in this case is the metal rod on the front fender. I think it is a black box at the rear of the roof. I need help on that since I have the navigation system and I may be confusing the two.

As for the subscription. Not sure why the large discrepancy, but for some reason my Sirius account was activated about 2 weeks before I bought my Patriot (perhaps it was a deal that soured at delivery since I bought my Pat off the showroom floor). The discrepancy is that when I finally managed to get my online account all set up, the account shows I have a paid subscription for 15 months!! I'd check with the dealer on this. Oh by the way, when I called Sirius support, they told me that the "Ford" dealer activated the account.
