Any one looked into adjusting towball height for patriot? I have an off-road camper that is sitting down too low when paired with the patriot... real sweet fit for the wrangler, but at christmas we won't all fit in wrangler :( I know that you can get tounges with different heights for most bars, but unsure what can be done for a factory fitted jeep bar.

why factory receiver would be an issue?
all come with either 2' or 1.25" recievers?
so can get a tongue with a rise of your choice whether 2"-4" or as the other posted up to 10" for either receiver.
something i am missing?

I'm not sure of what kind of ball mount you have, but sometimes removing the ball (not always easy) and mounting it 180 degrees will do the trick.

Most draw bars/ball mounts have a drop to them. Rotate them 180 degrees and they have a lift. That is so they can accomidate different height vehicles and trailers. Of course this means the ball needs to be flipped around also. When you buy a draw bar it will say the drop and rise, something like 2" drop, 3/4" rise.

thanks for all the suggestions. Looking at a weight distribution hitch at the moment that should do the trick nicely.

Hi VK,

yeah, I turned the tongue over on mine and its a LOT better.
Other wise supercheap should have replacement ones that have a rise on them.

thanks Mud - no time no talk! I have a serious difference between trailer height and the height of pat towball - with the tounge turned over.. think the hayman adjustable will be the way to go.

yeah long time,

I towed a massive trencher the week I picked up my pat and was less than impressed with the height. Turned it over and it was much better.

while we are on towing, I know we have a cut-out window cover in the rear bumper for a towing bolt (supplied) , but what are we supposed to do at the front? Is there a hidden bolt hole somewhere?

yes its the little square metal bit has a round grey rubber stopper its on the drivers side i the lower bumper vent, i thought originaly it was something to do with a sensor or aircon, remove the stopper and the hook threads right in, when i first found it there was a bit of rust so i put a bit of grease there before i put the bung back in, also while you have the grease it weould pay to pop the wheels off and grease up the the big nut and threads with the spllit pins, they get real rusty very fast

Ta muchly. I saw that and thought it was a headlight sensor. Nothing is mentioned in the book and I knew the tiedown hook would be dodgy. Are we certain that hole has a strong enough mounting....?

definatly thats what it is, as i said check the threads for rust

awesome. I presume North American vehicles miss out on these, judging by the threads on effort and trouble to cut bumpers and fit tow hooks.

and I'll be out with the lanolin spray.

I hooked up a 1200kg trailer with car on it on the weekend. Wasn't impressed at all - rear mudguards were almost on the ground and the trailers A frame was about 2 inches off the deck, I kid you not.

1st up - going to suspension shop to get rear springs taken out, and measured for a custom set. Much thicker, which should slow down the squat. Add ontop of that a set of PolyAir bags to stiffen up the rear really tight. To be honest, I don't really care about ride comfort - rather get the car towing right!

you would be better getting a lift, crdstu is doing springs that will do perfectly, i have the rro lift and had a 1500kg dingo setup on the back the back only dropped slightly and towed perfectly

"All Coils are manufactured in Australia using the highest quality spring steel available on the market. All CRDSTU Coils come with a lifetime warranty no questions asked. With hundreds of thousands of klm's racked up throughout Australia, after 3 1/2 years I've never had one comeback, ever.

you can email at stuart@murchisonproducts.com.au , call 0413 860 777 or simply PM"
as soon as i can afforde it i will be getting rid of the rro and putting the springs in, but getting hios bumper first
cheers
btw he is in brisvegas
