no, but they are a Jeep part. why not just ask your dealer?

I asked the parts department at my dealer today. As of yet they have not been able to find the appropriate part number. As soon as I hear back I will post the number and approximate cost.

Any luck on these yet? I ripped off that stupid plastic and brok some other shroud this weekend.

SpoonyG

I have given up on the dealership. Additionally, there appears to be no part numbers listed in the manuals on Nearly Normal Jimmy's site either.
May have to wait for the aftermarket.

Some entrepreneur type person should take the plastic shroud off their Patriot and have one fabricated (copied) out of aluminum and sell one to each of us to offset the cost of design. Just a capitalist thinking.

I have sent a couple of e-mails back and forth to Jeep customer service. They follow:

Original Message Follows:

Comments:
"Dear Michael: Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance
Center regarding parts. Parts must be ordered through your local
dealership. Unfortunately, they can not be ordered over the web or via
telephone through the corporation. Thank you again for your email.
Sincerely, Susanna Senior Staff Representative Chrysler Customer
Assistance Center

My response:

I understand that parts must be ordered thru the dealership. My
dealershipis unable to find the parts numbers for the skid plates for the
Patriot. Ifyou can help me by supplying the parts numbers I would be happy to place the order thru my local dealership. Thank you.

Back to me:

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center
referring to previous communication.
The information you are seeking is unavailable.

Thank you again for your email.

I had the same issue, I have been to the Dealership about 5 times trying to get skid plates, no dice as of yet!

Pretty poor service really. seems as if they dont want to provide the skid plates as an after sales part.

The quest continues:
My next e-mail:

So much for customer service, at least you could have referred this to
the parts division.

And their response to that:

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center
referring to previous communication..

The time and effort you took to communicate your opinion is appreciated.
Constructive criticism of the kind offered in your note is always a

I guess that she was not pleased with my displeasure at such a total lack of "customer service" from customer service. But she was very polite in insulting me. I give her a couple of points for that.

Tiburon keep at her, maybe she'll give you the information you want in the end. Here's a thought, maybe we could start a running thread here on the forum called "ask Susanna", and any customer related issues could be e-mailed and addressed to her with a score out of 10 for how helpful she is !!

Maybe you can invite her to join JeepPatriot.com.

Tiburon

I replied back, thanking her for her most professional response to my request and if it was not too much trouble would she send me the phone number to the parts division. We will see Monday if she wishes to keep playing this game. I am starting to get bored with it myself.:zzz: By the way, this is her e-mail address: customerassist [customerassist@chrysler.com]

I've just sent an e-mail asking for the skid plates part number. Marks out of 10 for her reply.

Tiburon
10-13-2007, 01:21 PM
I would like to see her response when she gets a flood of request for the same information. If you send a request how about sending it to her personel attention. It just seems to me that some of the rudest people that I come across work in "customer service".

Tiburon
10-14-2007, 08:29 PM
Today I received an e-mail with a survey about my "recent visit to Customer Service". 5 questions about my satisfaction rating of the outcome of my request. 5 of 5 I answered the most negative that I could. Will it make any differance?, I would not plan on it.

I asked about skid plates today while getting an oil change and was told Jeep apparently has not yet assigned a part number for them. My rep checked all resources available to him and found nothing. His best guess is the car is too new and hopes that eventually more aftermarket items will be available.

Here is the reply I got from the e-mail I sent

"Thank you for contacting the Jeep Customer Assistance Center for
information on the part number for skid plates for your Jeep Patriot.

I have searched through the available accessories for the 2007 Jeep
Liberty, and skid plates are not an available option for the vehicle.
You can contact the Mopar Performance Parts line for information on any
accessories that have not been released yet if you would like. Their
number is 800-348-4696.

You can also ask the parts department if there are any skid plates
available for another model that will fit your Patriot. I am very sorry
that I could not provide you with more information.

Thank you again for your email.

Sincerely,

Jamie"

I'd give that 8/10 for effort, didn't provide the part number but at least referred me to another possible source. :smiley_thumbs_up:

My Patriot has some front end damage and now would be the ideal time to have the plastic replaced with metal skid plates. See thread: replacing front bumper. Still seeking part number for metal skid. At the autobody shop they pulled up a parts list for my Jeep using the VIN #. No metal part number shown, just plastic. Maybe if someone with an FDII VIN # asked for a replacement part it might come up?

Checked online at Moparparts.com, the skid plates were not listed. Called, the parts guy, he was surprised, no plates listed.
Still searching.

This whole part number not available is stupid. What is anyone suppose to do in case of a wreck, and need parts to repair. Thats what Jeep needs to answer and be responsible for.

BNoble
10-25-2007, 09:33 AM
Idea! Some parts have the number stamped on them. If some kind person with an FDII would take a close look at there skid plates there may be a part number on it. Please post if found.

There are two part numbers listed for BELLY PAN, Front:
05116372AB and 05303981AB
They do not list which one is which.
Maybe have the dealer try these to find out?

I had the dealer put one up on a rack and we looked at it. they are happy to get more. The problem is corp jeep does not have a listing for the part. They basicly told Chyrsler that they had one with body damage and needed to replace it. It took them 32 phone calls and about 10 emails to figure it out. I will try to scan the part number so you can look yourself. Other than than that you are on your own.

Steve

Look for one on Ebay.

Just a datapoint from April '08. I inquired about skid plates for my FD-1 rig when I was at the dealer for other reasons. The parts guy looked through a couple catalogs and found nothing.

One salesman followed me into the service department for this info because he had had requests from prospect customers also.

As an aside, it was hard not to notice how un-busy and bored the sales department seemed on a Monday afternoon (and the Friday before I was there also and made similar observations.) I pretty much had the whole lot to myself. The sales guys kinda peered out the window for a while before one guy came out. I kinda sensed that they were 'discouraged' in the same way that un-employed people get 'discouraged'...and are thus removed from the government's unemployment figures.

The salesman I bought mine from said he only makes $60/new car he sells but lots more on used ones. Maybe that = unhappy and discouraged?

There are at least 2 too many threads on skid plates and it's easy to get in the ones that don't have the info that you're looking for. I'd like to suggest that the ones other than MK Skid Plates (http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5114) be locked down or combined with the mentioned thread that has correct part numbers and 2 different pictorial installations.
