: Updated wheel- need opinions
jackster 09-12-2007, 08:51 PM I kind of liked the two tone wheels, but I also like a black vehicle with black wheels, so I was messing around with one of the wheels this evening, and came up with this:
I think it looks a lot more refined. It was a lot of work to get it clean, but it was a great idea to not scuff up the wheels before I painted them.
EDIT: You can see the metallic flake in the first pic, with the flash.
tazman900 09-12-2007, 09:02 PM I like the way the 2 tone looks ;)
nearly.normal.jimmy 09-12-2007, 09:18 PM Hey Jackster,
If you edit your post and go to 'manage attachments'. You can choose to insert the pics into the post instead of attaching them.
Then they show up without any clicking.
Just a little fyi. Makes it easier to see.
Apologies if you knew this and just didn;t feel like doing it.

pistol peter 09-12-2007, 10:09 PM I like the all black look. You should make it flat black with chrome lip, I always wanted some flat black wheels.
NoneRequired 09-12-2007, 10:18 PM The two tone looks pretty damn good if'n ya ask me... :pepper:

I had some on my red '99 Z28. That thing was bitchin'!
Randoo-N-CJ 09-12-2007, 10:47 PM Jackster,
The two tones are realllllyy easy on the eyes. Great job!
Now...you made me start thinking...what if a Pat of "color" was to try that??
I got the wifes approval if I was so inclined. Something to ponder?
(Oh, and thanks for the idea to begin with!)

demolaysgirl 09-12-2007, 10:54 PM The two tone (black/silver) looks really good! I like that better than the solid black.
Wheezy 09-12-2007, 10:55 PM Two-tone looks great, reminds me of the ones I see on the old Liberty's.

does anyone know where and for how much I can get those 17'' wheels? i have the base model 16''
jackster 09-12-2007, 11:37 PM Well I had already painted them black, so now I just have to go over the part I want polished with acetone.

No problem. I think it would look good if you could find the right color.

what kind of paint do u use?
jackster 09-12-2007, 11:57 PM Duplicolor in a spray can! I like to keep it simple, and cheap! It's all about the preparation.
purebred_guam 10-16-2007, 07:04 PM has the paint started to come off or did you seal it? i want to do the same thing so tell us exactly what you did. thanks.
kcjeep 10-16-2007, 08:10 PM I like the two-tone, I have a black limited so I have the funky two-tone bumpers, so this would look great. What kind of paint did you use?
Irish Waif 10-16-2007, 10:02 PM You can see the metallic flake in the first pic, with the flash.
I like the way the 2 tone looks ;)
DITTO the two tone wheels: they add just right highlight and make your Patriot look 'Dressed to the Nines'. If you want an all-black second set of wheels, just keep your eyes open for a set of take-offs from a 2008 Jeep Compass Rallye.
Your first snapshot with the flash lighting up the metalflake is sharp. This new for 2008 Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat color is oustanding when all cleaned up and showcased in just the right lighting; the color is also surprisingly similar to Subaru's 'Obsidian Black' which has been a perennial favorite among Subie drivers for a number of years.
Beautiful ride, and thanks for sharing the pics.
