I am shopping for some snow tires and on tirerack there are two downsizes for the Compass the 16'' and 15''.
Has anyone attempted to downsize from OEM 17'' to 15'' snow?
Looks interesting for tires are slighly narrower and with rims and TPMS cost is close to a set of 17'' with OEM alloys.
Considering this is not standard however I do believe that the base 4x4 comapss was available with 16'' steel rims just wanted to make sure eveything fits and wont wind up having to clean out snow from the inside of the wheels eveytime it snows because of possible contact with calipers and brakes.
Much better selection of good snow tires in 15'' rather than the 16 or 17.
Cheers:confused:

My Compass Limited has 18" Tires and I went with the 17" for my snow tires.
No issues.

I don't believe 15" wheels will fit over the brakes. I found lots of winter tires in 16" and 17" that are the right size.

I believe the issue with 15"ers fitting the Compass is that Compass' all have REAR disc brakes. If you have drums, I don't believe there is an issue, but wth the rear discs on the Compass and many Patriots, some 15" wheels will not clear the calipers.

Best way to find out is just take a wheel and try it. I went with the Patriot 16" steels on my Compass with no problem. I painted them black with some of the silver still showing and I think they turned out good.

It seems the problem is in your tires is relatively complex issues where

I was hesitant-for-16 hub, because they do not know whether it will affect the brakes
