My passengers and me have been enjoying the stock Patriot stereo now for the past month since I took delivery of my 2008 that I figured I'd start a thread on everyone's favorite road tunes.

I bought a $3.00 audio cable from our local electronics geek store to plug into the 3.5mm AUX input on the base Patriot stereo and invite everyone that rides with me to plug in their iPods and mp3 players.

Needless to say, it's been a big hit. The base stereo sounds pretty good, and around these parts, we know a thing or two about good HiFi. :)

Here's the link to my music player of choice - love the FM tuner and FM recorder, voice recorder and picture and video viewer and hot swappable micro SD memory and battery - and at a very reasonable price . . .

Our favorite Patriot road song so far has been this by Little Feat on their Waiting for Columbus Live album . . .

So what do you all listen to while driving your Patriots? Any favorites that you wish to share?

Just did a long trip, spent a few days at the beach. We here in australia are coming into summer, (apologies to my fellow patriot owners who are shivering in winter lol). Had the stereo going, I find the long trips enjoyable with the right music.

Some bruce springsteen, eagles, bonjovi, van halen, a bit of boz scaggs to lighten the mood.
I find good music takes your mind off the long journey ahead.

For the holidays, I just ripped half of my Christmas Cds into MP3 last night. Will hit up the other half tonight. So for now, lots of Trans-Siberian Orchestra with smatterings of other holiday classics mixed in.

Otherwise, I have a playlists of popular songs from the radio over the past couple of years. I listen to pop/rock.

When it's both me and the Hubby in the car together, it's lots of classic rock.

I haven't tried my Ipod out in mine yet. I have to steal my cable back from my brother who's had it almost year.

I've been listening to Christmas CD's, I have a country CD in right now, most the time I'm either listening to Rob Zombie, Ozzy, or AC/DC etc. Depends on mood........

some John Butler Trio is good for nice long drives, our friends down under know about that and maybe a few other northerners... Pink Floyd, Zep are good choices too

Oohhh..Trans-Siberian Orchestra..LOVE that music. If I have to listen to any Holiday music, that's my choice. (Beethoven's Last Night too!)
Non-seasonal music is pretty eclectic; new country, old rock, a little jazz (instrumental only though), and a few odd newer rock songs. ANYTHING Eagles-even their new release, and anything with lots of acoustic guitar.

By the way, Randoo:

I finally figured out what bugs me about the orange and green colours in the illlustration in your posts. A hundred or so years ago, in junior high school, I had an art teacher who would have made you stand in the corner all day for combining those colours.

She had other problem combinations, too. The Alberta government motor vehicles dept, decided to change Alberta license plates to a yellow background with blue numbers. My teacher freaked out, and repainted hers... as I recall, she painted the numbers brown. They really did look better. However, she was arrested and charged with defacing her license plate. All of this was being reported in the newspapers, of course, and I'm sure she loved the attention. The newspapers also noticed that the new colours were the official colours of the governing Conservative party.

Anyway, my teacher refused to pay the fine, so she did some time... one day, I think, where she actually checked in at the jail, did some paperwork, and went home. Her license plate was confiscated, of course, and when she got a new one, she proceeded to repaint it, too. Finally, the authorities gave up on her, and as far as I know, she became the only person in the province with yellow and brown plates.

At least she stood up for her principles. And God help you if you'd been in her class.

Sorry to go off topic.

I actually agree with ya, if you can believe that! I was just horsing around with my Photoshop, by wanted to fill in the letters of P A T R I O T. Then I realized...7 letters..7 bars in the grille..gotta play some more. WHo the hell ever heard of green skies and green mountain tops? I was just too lazy to re-do all the colors. Besides, I have a new sig in mind but I have to wait to take a particular kind of photo before I can work on it.

Since I went off topic too, here's a good road song that sounds good with the volume up.. Nickelback's "If Everyone Cared". Give 'er a listen folks.

'Chill & Downtempo' tunes downloaded from iTunes on my Nano via the mp3 input on my Boston Acoustics system. I recently added a sound processor (Creative 'XMOD') that restores the fidelity on compressed mp3 music and a Kenwood self-powered 10" sub (has a fairly small footprint)...it's made a startling difference to the B/A's SQ.

Because the stock B/A system didn't have an independent volume control for its built-in sub (it appears to be a 6&1/2 incher, at most), turning up the bass meant increasing the levels to all the channels, resulting in unwanted vibrations from the door speakers at moderate to high levels, depending on the source material. With the Kenwood, I can now leave the head unit's bass setting flat (at '0') and adjust the gain on the Kenwood to my preference via the included dash-mounted remote, resulting in a distortion-free presentation at all (reasonable) levels.:chillpill:

I am kinda into Rockstar at the moment. The Way I Are is cool.

A bit of a warning. I was coaxed to well over the speed limit listening to Gallow's Pole by Led Zeppelin. It starts out slow and easy enough but then I found I was making the Patriot match the faster tempo by making the white lines on the highway disappear under the hood at the same rate as the music! Scary.

Ok, tonight I picked up the wife (I had to gas her Pat up) and the weather is turning to sh*t-snowing like mad, but I loved it cuz I was going around creeping cars ...
...all while listening to the band Edger Winters Group, playing..

..Frankenstein.:wow:

I don't know why I found that so cool, but I cranked that old song up almost to distortion! Excellent oldie!!
