: MP3 Stereo?
mitakuuluu 09-02-2007, 01:55 AM Anyone else having problems with their MP3 capability?
I burn a CD full of MP3s, and it gives me "error" and spits the CD back out.
What am I doing wrong?
DJ XS 09-02-2007, 03:28 AM go and read the previous posts. there is a ton of information, dont just open up a thread unless you cant find what you are looking for.
mitakuuluu 09-02-2007, 04:01 AM maybe, just maybe, i already looked...and there's nothing in this forum that addresses the issue, at least not according to thread title.
oh, how about search? it doesn't work as 'mp3' is too short a search term. :icon_rolleyes:
thanks for your help.
mitakuuluu 09-02-2007, 04:32 AM btw, i figured it out, the 'mp3' capability refers to the aux jack, not mp3 cds,
but you knew that already i'm sure...asshat
kanus 09-02-2007, 07:11 AM I've only tried one mp3 cd and it worked fine. Could it be the format that was used? I'll check out my cd to see what format I used.
RichHelms 09-02-2007, 07:30 AM I think the base stereo doesn't do MP3 CDs.
kanus 09-02-2007, 08:27 AM I have the base stereo and I've played one mp3 cd successfully.
mitakuuluu 09-02-2007, 08:47 PM if you have the details, that would be much appreciated, it'd be awesome to be able to have 200 songs on a CD :)
RichHelms 09-02-2007, 10:31 PM I took an MP3 CD that I had from my previous car that supported MP3 and it doesn't work in my base stereo. I also get Err CD
Patriot Kmc 09-03-2007, 03:13 AM sometimes can just be that brand of CD, try a different brand of blank CD.

I just checked my computer for the songs I burned onto the cd and it says they are all "MP3 Audio File (mp3)". So this confirms that my cd player does play mp3 cds.
gstrub 09-04-2007, 09:44 AM Are you sure you didn't burn them in Audio CD format? Many times when you burn a CD from MP3's on a computer, you actually create an audio CD and not a data cd (however if you burned 100+ songs onto the CD then you have the mp3 format). I was under the impression the base stereo will NOT play data formatted CD's (MP3 CDs).
patrickws 09-04-2007, 11:00 AM I don't think the base stereo will play MP3 CDs, but I can give it a try. Some stereos are going to be picky about how the music is encoded -- it might require certain bitrates, and reject others. I have a Grand Am that plays MP3 CDs, and it's very specific about how the MP3s are encoded.
nearly.normal.jimmy 09-04-2007, 01:20 PM I don't think the base stereo will play MP3 CDs, .
Correct. You have to go to the RAQ, REC, or RAK units to get that.
(6 cd, Nav unit, 6cd with cassette)

I'm sure alot of people are going with aftermarket systems and you might be able to pick their old one for cheap and sell yours on ebay or something. Put a WTB ad in the outpost forum and you might get lucky. :)
