: Rev Hang?

Hey everyone, I recently took a trip through the Rocky Mountains. On some of the steeper hills I had to shift down and put the pedal to the metal. What I found would happen is that when I let off the gas the engine would continue to rev for a second or two. Obviously this is a little uncomfortable. Anyone have this happen? Are our vehicle drive by wire?

By the way, this is not due to something jamming the pedal, it was clearly revving on it's own. :o

So is this a Manual transmission we are talking about?

Probably has something to do with the electronic throttle and emissions control (dumping raw fuel into the exhaust...)

Can't confirm though so it's just a guess

Is the car still being pushed forward during the rev?
Or does it feel more like it has sipped into neutral and it's freewhellin'?

(I am assuming its an Auto)

And yea, they are drive by wire.

Yes, it's a 5 speed. I would shift down to 3rd and floor it. Then when I put the clutch in it would rev up for a second or two. Scared the hell out of me. :wow:

That is weird - mine has not do that. Did it happen more than once? Was it the same sound/feeling if you were hitting the gas while in neutral? Or, more like the pushing sound/feeling of being in a low gear and gunning it? Not sure if that helps diagnose at all, but just wanted to get a better idea about what its doing...

It's happened a few times. What it's like is when the clutch is in the engine either hangs at the high revs or it keeps revving up. It's happened a few times, but not really as late. For now I guess I'll chalk it up to new car and drive by wire. At the time it only had like 1000 KMS on it.
