I figured you guys might want to see this.

and number 2
http://130.132.165.133/jeepex4.jpg

sound clip number one is a windows media file recoded off a laptop (use windows media player to play it)

jeepexwin.wma (http://130.132.165.133/jeepexwin.wma)

sound clip number two is a apple .m4a file recorded off an iphone. (Apple's quicktime or itunes will open this one)

jeepexapp.m4a (http://130.132.165.133/jeepexapp.m4a)

I was worried that it would sound like those honda civics with the fart cans on them but its not even close. The recordings are ALOT louder than the actual exhaust. Truth be told, the K&N air intake is louder then the magnaflow muffler LOL. Its a low rumble the entire time you drive it (slightly louder when you floor it but still low enough). As far as more Horse power, it feels a little bit stronger going up hill and flooring the gas... but nothing to make me do the dance of joy. hehe

Hey thanks for the post, super cool. I was wondering what it would sound like. Does your compass have the 2.4l in it?

Update: Since i've installed the muffler, here are the average MPG results. Before the upgrade i would get 25.5-27.9 MPG. Week one (i was flooring it alot) with mixed highway and city travel i got 27.03. Week two (same mixed highway/city driving) with alot less flooring of the car (but there was a couple of times where i had to kick it into high gear) i got 28.14 MPG! I got the car to break the 28 MPG barrier! Now this week im going to try and refrain driving like a nut just to see what ill get this time around.

Don't like it, a stock muffler painted black looks better. That muffler just looks silly and ricey. Looks "tacked on" not for the car. Sorry.
As for sound, did not sound so good either, but I like a quiet car unless it has a performance V8 in it.
If you like it, fine, just not my cup of tea at all.

well everyone is entitled to their own opinion... like i said you BARELY hear it. the microphone was VERY close to the muffler. As far as looks, i rather dump that HUGE/HEAVY muffler from Chrysler any day. I got the muffler for one reason really and it was to improve gas mileage (granted not alot but something is better than nothing) and a little more horse is a nice feature too ;) And trust me im all about v8s and their exhausts... i have one of those too :D

All good and well, but what about support of the 600E and K3D I own one of each

I sadly notice that all reference to the 600E and K3D has been remone from Compass home page , cant see anything about continued support

I like it, but I would have to get that tip to sit up higher and more level. I'm actually really surprised at the sound, in a good way.

looks and sounds good, I like the low rumble, an suv shouldn't sound like a rice car.

well then paint it black if it will make you happy, Hey its not on your Jeep. I have a catback with a Flowmaster Hushpower muffler on mine, it is real narrow not wide and sure sounds good. I personally like the sound of the Flowmaster, much more Throaty. I put a Magnaflow on my Patriot before I put on a Catback, no comparison to a Flowmaster sound. The muffler shop guys keep pushing Magnaflow, I don't know why. Anyway I have two in my garage, guess I'll give them away. I told my brother who just finished his Hot Rod to use Flowmaster for the sound, instead he went with Magnaflow now he is sorry. Its personal preferance, the magnaflow is too quiet for me. But then again, not everyone wants more noise.

Looks to me like the whole setup sits way too low to the ground. With such a small muffler, wouldn't it be possible to have it tucked away nice and high?

Actually, I don't think the muffler is any lower then the factory one, but the pipe coming under the RDU cross member looks low. Maybe it an angle thing on the muffler to bring that up. I do like the way it sounds, not ricey at all. I had a magnaflow muffler on my Dakota R/T 5.9L and it sounded great (but then I like subdued sound). I have glass packs on my 73 Camaro and the rumble in the passenger compartment get's old after a while of driving. My co-worker has a flowmaster on his 2000 Altima and again, the noise/rumble in the interior gets too much for any sort of long trip.

you are correct the exhaust pipe is lower. The pipe has a lesser degree of angles than vs stock exhaust pipe. The muffler does look like it sits so much lower but it isnt, the muffler is just so much small than the original that it just looks that way.:o

My Flowmaster is mounted the same way, except the Flowmaster is narrow. I think I'll take my Patriot to my buddy who owns a Muffler shop and see if we can do some cutting and move it inline with the pipe. That way it will be tucked up where it can't be seen, that is if there is enough space to fit it. I think there is , anyway another idea. I'm going to do it, can't leave well enough alone.
