: Does Size Really Matter?
MEGULA 08-27-2007, 07:40 PM Hi, gang!
Just wanted to get some overall reviews related to driving and sitting comfort in the Pat.
I'm a whopping 4'10" (har har) and my hubz is over a foot taller than me, so I want to make sure that we're both going to be comfy when we're driving and relaxing in our Riot next year... we haven't gone on a test drive yet, so I'd love to hear how my fellow "little people" feel about their Pats and how you tall folks fare as well.
Thanks!
Meg
:D
newjeepgirl 08-27-2007, 07:46 PM Hubby and I are both tall, no problems, but hubby needs to put the seat adjustment all the way down. You guys probably want to make sure you order with that option with your height differences! Power mirrors are a nice addon too that we love.
After someone else posted that he doesn't have the legroom (sorry can't remember who), I tried his sitting position - slouched. My knees hit the plastic under the steering wheel, so it might be best for more upright sitting people.
SMJPG2008 08-27-2007, 07:51 PM I'm 5'2.5 and hubby is 6'2".
I'm love driving my Patriot. Hubby has drove it a few times and he hasn't messed with adjusting the seats as where the pickup we're always adjusting. I have the heighth adjusted seat which I had in my last car and it was definatley nice. It's comfortable to drive.
I think you and your hubby will find it comfy. I went on a short road trip no problems. Hubby and I have been all over with our two dogs, no problems.

Nice... so I won't have to sit on a phone book or put blocks on the pedals?! :p
What kind of pups do you have? Did they have plenty of room in your Pat? As you can see in my sig, we have a Border Collie and a Golden, both one year old but very small for their breeds and will not grow any bigger... they are our "road dogs" and will be breaking in the Riot with us whenever we go exploring on our regular adventures! :D
SMJPG2008 08-27-2007, 08:08 PM Like JeepGirl said get the seat heigth adjusted driver seat and you'll be fine.
Our dogs are a 4 year old Border Collie/Blue Heeler and a 1 year old Doxie. The 4 year old sits in the back seat in our niece's booster seat and loves it. The Doxie rides in my hubby's lap or on the floor (haven't figured that one out) Oh yeah plenty of room. We can have our niece and the one dog in the backseat no problem. I had my cousin's greyhound in the cargo and she had plenty of room. Some slipping, I would recommend a blanket or something back there.
NoneRequired 08-27-2007, 09:22 PM I'm 6'1" and I don't even have the seat all the way back. The height adjustment is set at mid-range, neither all the way up or down, and everything is quite comfortable for me. Wife hasn't driven it yet... and that's fine with me too... :D
Now where she sits on the passenger side though, she complains that the seat is too low for her tastes. The passenger side has no height adjustment. She's 5'5". I figure, she'll get over it...

Hm, I actually prefer a lowrider seat and so does my hubz ~ I'm surprised there's no adjuster for the passenger seat! Too bad so sad for whoever's riding shotgun in the Riot, eh?! :p
patnorth23 08-28-2007, 07:57 PM Hi
my wife is 4'13" and has no problem driving the Pat. The seat height adjustments works just fine for her.
I am 6'2" and I don't have the driver seat all the way back.
Bobbyt 09-04-2007, 03:09 PM Some passengers are likely to find the Patriot a little claustrophobic. Unlike most sedans and minivans today, which have low dashboards which slope away, no visible engine hood and extra tall windows, the Patriot's tall, blocky dash and narrow window openings may seem confining.
Actually, the Patriot is a return to the "cocoon" interiors of the 1980s, which were designed to make passengers feel protected at a time when safety was an industry hotpoint. Remember the frist time you rode in a Dodge Caravan? Didn't you feel oddly exposed? Even that benchmark vehicle is gradually moving away from that "glass box" feel and back toward the implied saftey of enveloping structure.
cupcheck 09-08-2007, 02:29 PM im 6-4 and love the comfort of my drivers seat. i drove a civic for 2 years straight, as a job, and drove over 60K in 2 years. My back was never going to forgive me, until i got the patriot. So comfortable, even at 6-4. Seat all the way back, all the way down, steering wheel lowered, god i feel like a baller driving it.
my gf is 5-4, and also loves the feel and setup.
