DE-badge?! Heck I'm trying to ADD badges! Already got my "Trail Rated" badge. :)

I've waited all of my life to own a Jeep (my grandfather was a Jeep man)... I'm sure as heck gonna show it. ;)

I think that it will look fine. All vehicles look fine without markings.

I do love the "Trail Rated" badge... maybe add that one, and delete the others...

Personally, I don't like decals or anything like that on my car. Here's my Pat after...
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/3003000-3003999/3003022_4.jpg

After taking the badge off in the back, the Jeep outline is actually an indentation in the plastic.

You won't like the badges when you wax or polish the Pat.

De-Badge?
Aehm, if if i would have a Patriot i would be proud to have the Jeep Logo on them.

I mean this isnīt a KIA so no need to debadge it.

Just my 2 cents

Debadging is for a clean look. The Pat looks like a Jeep and a Jeep only. You do not need a bage to know the Pat is a Jeep.

Exactly my thoughts... People aren't going to confuse it with some other brand because the Patriot definitely has a distinct 'Jeep' look to it.

That being said, I wouldn't get rid of my badges just because it has a distinct look.

The only de-badging I performed was removing the dealer plaque under the 4X4 badge. Man, I hate advertising the dealer.

There are on-line shops that sell those badges. You could get a Trail Rated-badge too, if you'd like. ;) The badges are not at all expensive.

I think putting a "Trail Rated" badge on an FD1, or 4x2 takes away from the meaning of the badge. It was designed to show that the vehicle met a certain minimum requirement for off-roading. That's why you'll probably never see one on a Compass. Sure it looks cool, probably one minor reason why I decided to get the FDII. Just my opinion.

To badge or to de-badge? Not an issue for me, my FWD 2X4 has no badges! I won't be adding any either, nor will I be dying my hair a different color or putting in colored contact lenses to make my brown eyes blue.

The only badge I had that I wanted removed was a plastic badge affixed to my liftgate under the the 4X4 badge. I removed it successfully per someone's suggestion here in the forums. I first cleaved away the badge using about 18 inches of waxed dental floss. I tried unwaxed but it broke too easily. Mint seemed to work [wry smile].

It took a couple of tries but I slowly worked the dental floss through the double-sided tape. I used constant pressure sawing away while slightly pulling away from the painted surface of the Pat.

I then used my thumb to rub larger pieces of tape that remained adhered to the paint. I then used Goo Gone on a paper towel to remove any remaining adhesive film. Finally, I washed the area and applied a generous coating of car wax.

The result was like the dealer's badge was never even installed.

At my age, I need the badges to remind me what kind of vehicle I bought.

OK - So I took the Jeep in the front off, the limited and 4x4 as well. How about the Jeep in the rear...I read someone saying that there are indents where the Jeep is in the rear. Is that true or is it flat as the front when you take them off? Thanks, ollie

It is more a question of personal preference than pride...at least that is just my take. A blind person can see that it is a Jeep...I do not need a badge to point it out..

I drove all the way to California, in a snow storm, bought a real, rust free Scrambler body, paid twice what an after market body cost, and towed it back to Minnesota, in a snow storm. Why? Because a REAL scrambler body has the name Jeep embossed in the side of the body in front of the door on both sides. You know, my Patriot badging is staying right where it is.

Call it what you want. Stupidity, pigheadedness, foolish, crazy, I call it brand loyalty. I didn't want some substandard, Asian made, aftermarket body on my Jeep.

Ollie18
06-20-2008, 09:18 PM
some might call it brand loyalty, some call it brand 'whoring', some call it nothing cuz they could honestly care less about a badge or for whatever reason...I bought the car definitely not cuz I like the badges...LOL...when it comes down to it, it's still all about personal preference...Thank god we are all different...would be a boring world if all had the same taste..

Cheers to that!

I debadged my old car at one point and loved the smooth look. However, Im worried that, even though its a new car, the paint might have faded a bit, allowing you to see an outline of where the badge used to be. It might not show up, but Its my first new car and I dont want to take a chance. I love modding so much and I thought I was going to love having a new car to buy stuff for it, but its so hard trying to work on a new car cause you dont want to ruin it.

With that said, If I see someone on here with an older model patriot (2007:icon_rolleyes:), and it looks good, than I will deffinatly be doing that!

Just added a Trail Rated badge to the right side of mine. Makes it more balanced! and added a www.JeepPatriot.com lettering to the top edge of the rear window. Looks sharp but I agree if you like badges ok if you don't ok -- no badge off my Patriot or is it "no skin off my nose"????? Have a great day or night or whatever

It really depends on the color and the paint. We bought a new car in 02 that was a dealer transfer. We could easily see the outline of the original dealers vinyl logo, that had been removed, faded into the paint. This was a blue metallac on a Jeep Liberty.

Well put Ollie! Sure would be boring if everyone else drove a Sun Burst Orange Patriot! :D Thank God everyone has choices! Mine is to keep the badges in place. I want those Toyota and Honda and Subaru and (fill in the blanks) owners to know that the great looking vehicle that just past them is a Jeep Patriot! :D

I debadged my IS300 (http://home.comcast.net/~atiedje/Cars/IS300/leftrear.jpg) because it looked too cluttered. The plastic adhesive attached badges are a PITA for detailing. My MK has 4x4 and Limited that are on the relatively small tailgate so I may remove them. Sorry, I'll keep them if ever I sell the vehicle.
