What? A Wrangler Unlimited, of course. It was sitting on the dealer's lot in Goshen, IN today when I drove by. I didn't have time to stop, but from a short distance away, it looked big. My wife and I are going to take a drive out there tomorrow morning to take an up close and personal look/see.

It's the first one I have seen in person--and not a picture.

We're still deciding if we want to wait for a Patriot, or go with some enviornmental distroying Wrangler. If we go with the Wrangler Unlimited, we will have to trade in my wife's enviormental distroying 2003 JGC on the mad machine.

Of course, I will be "stuck" with my beloved 98 XJ, which I will keep (and cherish) till it falls apart.

Our Up Close and Personal visit:

1. It was a 2WD Wrangler Unlimited Sahara:-((( However, it did give us an idea of the size and gadgets. It had the hard top, with full metal doors.

2. For some reason, I had in my mind, that it wasn't going to be any bigger than my XJ. However, it is slightly bigger than my wife's 2003 JGC WJ. It looks much bigger than that, though. It must be the squared off body design that makes it look bigger, compared to the rounded design of the JGC. According to Jeep.com, it is slightly taller than the wife's WJ.

3. Front seats were very comfortable. Seems as if the step in to the front is higher than the wife's WJ. Ground clearance, I think, on both vehicles is about the same, but again everything seems "bigger" on the Unlimited. Maybe it is because everything is "new".

4. Entrance to the back seat was a little tight, but not bad with the narrower door entry. Really can't compare to the JGC, since I never spent a lot of time getting in/out of the back seat of JGC.

5. This Sahara had the 17" Wrangler SR-A tires.

6. Typical AM/FM CD, with AC, cruise. Forgot to check if it had power windows/locks!

The salesman wasn't sure when they would be getting the 4WD models. However, we did spot one at a dealership in Merrillville, IN, but it was dark and raining, so we didn't stop--maybe next weekend.
