: Cargo room for golf clubs?

Any Patriot Owners/Golfers out there?

I am curious about the cargo area behind the backseat. I'm hoping to be able to carry four sets of clubs back there but it looks a little small in the pictures. I'll know soon enough - my 2008 Limited is being delivered today! Just thought I'd ask though. I'm looking forward to actually being able to drive friends around - the Wrangler was never that good for carrying more than two people...

I don't think you'll fit 4 bags in there. The cargo area isn't very wide. Right at the back, there's a small area that is 46" wide at floor level but it's probably not big enough to carry a golf bag. The rest of the cargo area is about 38.75" wide at floor level. It's a bit wider at window level- 58" at the bottom of the window, 53" at the top, so you might be able to fit a bag or 2 in that area.

Tried fitting JUST my golf bag in the bag - didn't fit long ways. Actually had to fold flat the 40% seat and set them in that way. Was first and only disappointment of my Patriot so far.

Just had a thought though - it may have only been the driver/woods that didn't make the grade - a stragecially placed bag may let those slide into the cubby hole on the right side of the cargo area??? Also could just pull those clubs out and set them on top of the pile.

Thanks for the input!

Sounds like I can carry three people and clubs with the split-seat folded. Can't wait - want to pick it up today but my sales guy "has the day off" and the dealership is not positive when the truck will roll in with my 2008. I'm just hoping they don't let anybody drive it before me!

You can probably fit about 2/3 bags (might have to stack one) in the back when you fold down the 60% seat. That way, you can have the 3rd person in the back keep an eye on the clubs from sliding all over the place. ;)

I had this same dilemma last Sunday when 4 of us were going golfing. 4 grown men and 4 sets of clubs did not fit.

We tried just folding down the drviers side rear seat and stack them high, but the clubs were way too crammed and they would have come flying at my head. It's a shame too because that would have been a nice added bonus!

I think 3 people with 3 (or 4) sets of clubs would be the max, by folding the bigger rear seat on the passenger side.

The cargo area by itself can only hold 1 or 2 max.

only problem with fitting 3 people with 3 (or 4) sets of clubs is......then how do you fill out your foursome at the course???? That's no good at all!!!!

I wonder if a hitch-based carrier of some sort may be better - or on the roof rack?

Too bad there probably isn't enough demand for such a product or I'd be getting my entrepreneurial motors revving!

Here's an option for the hitch. It says you can link up to 4 together and it's also airline compliant.

Definitely 3 people + clubs. Just tried our clubs in the back (sadly, haven't been out golfing yet this year, been to the driving range maybe once every other month). Both bags fit in the back behind the seats - bottom bag needed to be at an angle. With the small seat folded flat, both bags fit easily and I think a third would fit no problem. Fourth would be tricky at best and then you would have two people in the rear 60%, probably wouldn't be too comfortable anyway. I don't have fancy clubs/bag (king par end of the season special), so maybe our bags are a little smaller too.

We'll probably have a scramble coming up since its getting cooler so I should probably get out there..

Come on guys...I know most of us are in are 30 or 40's...but 4 men and 4 sets of golf clubs...and no one even mentioned golf carts??? What the " " are your guys smoking...If you put 4 men in a Jeep Commander it probably would not be a good fit...and who the heck gets to sit in the back middle...the handicap golfer??? LOL LOL LOL...

Just like those dumb CReport reviews...DO NOT make the Patriot into what it is NOT intended for...I would say 3 men and 3 sets of clubs at the most...
