: Overhead Consoles and Cubbies and Lights!!!
Dmentd_Dan 08-17-2007, 09:36 PM :banana:Just found this page at bell automotive accessories. I know alot of people would love one or more of these!!!! I know I am looking at the dome light for the rear. A little paint and it will look factory!(anyone know where to get paint to match the headliner?) The compass/clock console looks really good too! The patriots flat mid section in the headliner screams for something and I think these would fit the bill nicely!!!!:pepper:

Hey Dan.
I had the same reading light that is above the rear view mirror installed in the rear.
I have the template for the hole and instructions for removing the front light to get to the wiring to splice into on the Home Grown page I have in my sig.
We chatted about it in this thread. (http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2128&highlight=interior+lighting)
And a couple pics here. (http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showpost.php?p=20267&postcount=15)
Without a sunroof the install would be a no brainer, but I was having a sunroof installed so they just did it for me then.
Just a little info....
Cheers,
Jim
Oh yea, thanks for that link, I might like something like that up front. Might be a great place to mount a ScanGauge. (http://www.scangauge.com/)
Dmentd_Dan 08-17-2007, 10:12 PM Thanks for that info. How much was the dome light?
Your sunroof looks good!
That scan guage thing is cool! to be able to see trouble codes on the fly would be cool.
I am in the process of ordering my patriot but the dealers in San Antonio are all having water issues from TS Erin. So I will have to be patient. I am getting a green lmtd with pebble int. I am getting all the bells and whistles. Right now I am thinking about all my future mods!
nearly.normal.jimmy 08-17-2007, 10:16 PM Dome light was $58 from the dealer.
Hooking into the front one lets it come on/off/dim with the doors and lets you turn it on/off while traveling.
BUT.. I think the 08's come with a small dome light over the rear seats now. (?)
Jim
Dmentd_Dan 08-17-2007, 10:31 PM Jim,
Great idea hooking it up to the front to get the same functionality!
If the 08's already have it then I guess I will have to another mod to do. :) Maybe the sunglasses holder if it doesn't look out of place...
nearly.normal.jimmy 08-18-2007, 09:06 AM If the 08's already have it then I guess I will have to another mod to do. :) .
Yea, I think it is just a single on/off with door light. Not sure if it has a separate on/off for lighting as the vehicle is moving.
Anyone with an 08 able to enlighten us?
Jim
ryan_p17 08-18-2007, 09:19 AM Don't buy the Bell products. I already made that mistake in my civic. I had the bell sunglass holder and dome light. Surprisingly they looked close to stock and didn't stick out like a sore thumb. But I was almost sure they wouldn't stick to the headliner, as they only use velcro and double sided tape. Well I put them up and I was impressed, they wouldn't budge, until the first hot day came around and I open my car door and find my dome light lens cracked on the floor from falling from the headliner and my $200 pair of Maui Jims laying on the drivers side floor mat. I soon after returned the items.

Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear about your situation...
Maybe use a piece of hard board on the other side of the headliner to screw into...???

Wow, I picked up my '08 Limited today, and there is no dome light over the rear seats. Just the one in front and the one all the way in the back, just like the 2007's. Methinks someone might be seeing double?:p
nearly.normal.jimmy 08-19-2007, 01:28 AM WOW..wtf? man that's messed up.
I think I remember actually seeing it in someone's pics they posted here.
Actually I think it was SMJPG2007's pics.
Jim
newjeepgirl 08-19-2007, 10:06 AM That is messed up.
Anybody else with a limited 08 - dome or no dome?
SMJPG2008 08-19-2007, 01:48 PM I swear up and down there's a dome light. I had even taken a picture of it, I didn't post that picture. There's the one in front, one in middle and then the flashlight clear in the back. I'll have to go out later and take a picture.
sheridan55 08-19-2007, 03:09 PM from all I've heard there is supposed to be a rear seat domelight in the 08. Maybe you should check with your dealer.

No dome light, no place that looks like one is missing at all. The only pics that I've seen that show a center dome light is the pics of nearly.normal.jimmy's modifications.
Now, I'm not feeling like I'm needing something, because 95% of the time, that back seat is going to be empty in mine anyhow.
When it stops raining (tomorrow maybe??) I'll take some pics of the obvious changes for the 2008 Limiteds. There really aren't all that many, nor would I expect many as the Patriots were a mid year startup. Normally that means few changes for the first full model year.

I just went out and took this..........
nearly.normal.jimmy 08-19-2007, 04:19 PM Isn't this also a picture of a rear dome light?

SMJPG2008 08-19-2007, 04:26 PM Yes that's a dome light in the back seat.
Dmentd_Dan 08-19-2007, 06:16 PM Just got back from the stealership and the 07's did not have them and the 08's did.
SMJPG2008 08-19-2007, 06:26 PM I wonder why Nonerequired doesn't have one..........
Wheezy 08-19-2007, 07:23 PM I was fairly annoyed to find out that the '08s were getting this... The '07s seem to have the same indent in the roof where the dome light would sit, so I'm not too sure why they decided to leave it out of the '07s. I'd order one and have it installed, but I think it would be too much of a hassle with the sunroof in the way.

Now, I'm really curious.
Do you have the build list from your pat? If not, you can get it by asking for the build date and salescode list at: http://www-5.jeep.com/wccsapp/universal/J/index.jsp?appStr=wccs&titleStr=Contact+Jeep&familyStr=brand&franchise=J&actionURL=%2Fwccs%2Fbrand_forms%2Fus%2Fwebform.jsp&promotion=null&category=U
Simply fill out the form, ask for the build date and salescodes, and within 48 hours, they'll email the info to you. We can then compare the build list to see what code got them on your's and didn't get onto mine. I would have thought that the Limiteds would have them, especially since I have the security group on mine.

Nah, it's definitely a 2008, I was in the plant the Friday before the change over, and mine wasn't built until two weeks later ( Aug 10 ). It has the other 2008 cues, like the silver bodyside molding, the autostick, and the extra bright trim inside. My headliner has no indentations where another lamp would even mount. I'm sure we can figure this out if those that have them get a build list to compare. Here's mine:

LCKS Front Dome Lamp
LCRS Interior Removable/Rechargeable Lamp
It's a little confusing, but according to the parts manual, they call the light above the rear view mirror the Front Map Reading Light, the light above the rear seat the Front Dome Lamp, and the rear, well the rear dome.
So according to your equip. list you are suppose to have it. 'LCKS'
Odd
Jim
SMJPG2008 08-20-2007, 12:05 AM So weird, you should have one. I wonder if it got over looked in production. Something happened there.

Does anybody know if there is a similar form for Canadian owners? This forms only seems to apply to US owners.

The headliner is not made in plant, they get sequenced in.
I'd really like to see the build list from someone that has one...
Looks like tomorrow I'll call my guy in the plant and have him check a few things...

Do you have the rear removable flashlight?
SMJPG2008 08-20-2007, 02:04 AM Yeah I have that, it's clear in the back in the cargo. I have a light above the rearview mirror, then the dome light that I took the picture of and the flashlight in cargo. I don't have pictures of those but I can take them tomorrow/today. My sheet that came with the patriot under interior says Front Dome Lamp. Under Optional Equipment it says Map/Dome Reading Lamp and interior removable/rechargeable LED flashlight.
NoneRequired 08-20-2007, 02:09 AM I think I found it....
Going through the parts manual, I see that the LCK (Front Dome Lamp) and XGD (Garage door opener) are mutually exclusive. There doesn't seen to be a part number for a headliner that has both.
Interesting.... very interesting... though not as interesting as the fact that the owners manual lists a fuse for the heated mirrors... :dead_horse:
Dmentd_Dan 08-20-2007, 08:57 AM The manufacturer's always put extra options the first model year and towards the end of the model's body style (before they update it). The extra options for the first model year get you to buy it (ie, disc brakes standard on sport and limited patriot). As the the body style has been out for a few years they throw in stuff like heated mirros, painted door handles (I am going to do mine when I get it), etc. The engineers know all of this when they design the car and sometimes stuff like heated mirrors fuze hole will show up in the first year even though the factory doesn't plan on offering it for a few years. Another explanation is that overseas models have this option and US models don't. My honda accord was like that with heated seats, it was standard in Canada and not available to the US.
Engineeringtech 02-25-2008, 01:34 PM Anyone know where the rechargeable flashlight is supposed to be? I've had my car over a year, and just noticed it was listed on my invoice. I've never seen it.
jack.allwardt 02-25-2008, 02:00 PM There's another thread that discusses the middle dome light, and it seems to be connected to two situations: 1) is there a sun-roof? Then no. 2) If no sunroof, there should be on the '08, but not the '07--or vice-versa. It could also be a difference between the sport/limited packages, too.
cklinger 02-25-2008, 02:59 PM Anyone know where the rechargeable flashlight is supposed to be? I've had my car over a year, and just noticed it was listed on my invoice. I've never seen it.
Your rear dome light. should say flaslight on, or around it on the white plastic.
dryland305 02-25-2008, 03:05 PM Anyone know where the rechargeable flashlight is supposed to be? I've had my car over a year, and just noticed it was listed on my invoice. I've never seen it.
It should be in the cargo area, near the hatch/tailgate. See the attached picture (photo credit: frosty).
suzq044 02-26-2008, 06:21 PM I believe the 2nd row lights were part of the 'power' package, or was part of the 'limited' setup.
