This is a question on the breakover angle of the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited 'X'.

On Jeep.com, it states it is something like 17.8 degrees. Both the Sahara and Rubicon are in the mid 20 degree mark. I always thought that the benchmark for an off-roader was at least 20 degrees for the breakover angle. Anything over that was "icing on the cake".

Any off road warriors out there who would like to try and explain this?

I think the X comes standard with P225/75's (about 29.3") tires. The Sahara and Rubicon come with 32" tires, which probably accounts for the breakover angle difference.

In all honesty, if someone gets the X with the P225s, I don't think they would be wanting to do much wheeling (without aftermarket mods). I could be wrong though.

To most off-roaders, the breakover benchmark is as high they can get it without going broke :p

Wanting to and being able to are two very different things. The person who scrapes up enough to buy the base model may desparately want to go off-roading... and may actually attempt many trails... their ability to hit the harder trails is limited, not their desire.

True for every good hobby.
