Let me just start by saying that I am surprised to be the one writing this customary POTM write-up. I have never been one to seek titles, so just being nominated was a complete surprise. And actually winning?! wow. So, with many many thanks to all of you who voted for me, a brief (yes Gaze, brief) story of my Patriot.
Last summer, as I drove around in my Wrangler, getting 14mpg, with gas prices at $4+ per gallon, I started realizing that I needed something more practical. But being a lover of the outdoors and offroading, I needed something that still had some capabilities.
I started the typical search for a relacement vehicle. My requirements were simple: Much better fuel economy, day-to-day practicality, and still have very good offroad capability. My search quickly showed only one vehicle that fit that description. The Patriot FDII.
Last August I traded in the Wrangler for the Pat. But as I switch from the Wrangler forums to this Patriot forum, I was happy to find much more than just advice about what mods to do and what trails to take. I found a group of people that became friends. A group of people that talk about politics and religion (although we don't always agree), sports, TV, etc. As well as mods, trails, capabilities, problems, etc.
I may not ever have the most mods, or do the most severe trails. I may irritate some of you with my points of view. But I promise that I will share my Patriot pics, trails, problems, etc.
And for the surprise selection as POTM, I thank you again. And to Gaze, keep up the good work. This forum is one of the best ones I've been a part of.
