Does anyone know if the Jeep Pat w/o EVIC can be added on later. I have an 08 jeep Pat (the only one the dealer had) came with just about everything except the EVIC and heated seats. I had one in my last truck and really came to like it. I have seen the a few after market ones but I was hoping that I could just use the one in the dash.

I don't believe there will be an official EVIC add-on. I am in the same boat as you, my Patriot has everything but the EVIC.

I think the best approach will be to look at the Service and/or Parts manuals and determine what parts are added to provide the EVIC functionality and wait for Junk-yards to have some salvaged parts from wrecked Compass/Patriots.

I'm guessing its not much more than a different dash panel and the parts for the tire pressure monitoring. I would bet that the Onboard computer is already in the non-evic Vehicles.

The EVIC is part of the instrument cluster. The cluster is the bus master for the CAN bus. So, theoretically, yes you could get a new cluster that had the EVIC in it. One can only guess how much a dealer would charge you to swap them out and reprogram the new one correctly. You can't just buy the new cluster either, as it would need to be programmed with vehicle mileage info before the install.

IF you could find a dealer that would do it, I'm sure they would want an arm and a leg to pay for it...:doh:

I asked my dealer the same thing.

He said, anything can be added for a price, but they would have to replace the entire dash instrument cluster and that it wouldn't be cheap.

I am going to get a ScanguageII (http://www.scangauge.com/)eventually. Mount it somewhere nice.
Should tell you everything the EVIC does minus Sirius info.
