Hi All,

Anyone using the ScanGauge II (http://www.scangauge.com/)? If you are would you answer the following please?

A-Do you like it?
B-Did you use the MGT mirror mount? (http://www.mgtmotorsports.com/bmsg.html)
C-Is it in a Patriot?
D-If no to B where did you put it?
E-Do you have to access the buttons frequently?
6-Do you have any pics to post?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim - I have a ScanGauge II in my Patriot and I love it.

Access to buttons depends on whether you just want to watch your four live gauge readings, or if you want to see trip and mpg statistics. Most of the time I just leave it on the 'live' gauge readings, and when I go on a trip or want to see my tank or daily mpg, I go to the Trip.

The menu navigation is very intuitive.

I bought an extra cable so I can use the OBDII reader for our other vehicles.

I will post pictures this evening when I get home so you can see where I mounted it and how I ran the cable.

(I didn't like the mirror mount because you have to look up to see the readings. It made much more sense to put it above the dash. However, the only downside of the dash is that on a hot summer day you may want to remove it so it doesn't cook!)

My father just installed on in his '03 Excursion 6.0PSD and it's a really cool little setup. I fully plan on getting one for the Patriot eventually. He has his mounted on the left of the steering wheel, I'm thinking about mounting mine on top of the steering column, if it will fit.

Hey Guys.

I cut out a template the size of the ScanGuage and it seems like it will fit on our steering column just fine.

I don't 'think' I would mind it on top of the rear view. But the mirror is quite a stretch and can't be reached without leaning forward. Would be awkward if I had to push buttons often.

I would like to keep everything as factory looking as possible so I was even thinking of flush mounting it in the dash area behind the turn signal.
Big empty chunk of dash. It would be the cleanest install, but not the most convienent to view.

I keep looking at the big area in front of the passenger where that shelf is thinking, man there's gotta be something to put/mount/install in there.

Probably gonna order one with the rear view mirror install today.
The mirror install only adds 20 bucks I think, and it would be nice having the option.

Cheers,
Jim

Attached are some pictures of my ScanGauge II setup.

Its not anything professional but it works. It seems to be the best spot for viewing without blocking anything.

The mirror setup would be cool but I don't get how the cable is run with that setup.

thanks for the pics. I like it.

If you get the mirror set up, they supply an extra 7 foot Cat5 cable.
It is tucked up just under the front of the headliner above the mirror, run across, then down inside the B Pillar and into the dash area.

Cheers,
Jim

Jimmy, was it hard to find the OBD connector? Where is it in relation to the steering column?

How does Scangauge compare with the factory vehicle information centre?Does it supply the same information?

http://www.scangauge.com/features/

(editted to add: I don't have the EVIC so personally I can't comment on what is in common and not. Thus the dry link)

It is just about directly to the left of your left knee when driving. If you weren't looking and reached for the hood release you 'might' grab it by accident.

I got mine today. I added mine into the cubby under the radio. It seems no one else did that. It fits perfectly! It was easy to drill a hole in the back and fish the cable trough.

A-Do you like it?
Sure do. It was alot cheaper than the package that contains the EVIC. I have it set to show MPH (top left), RPM (bottom left), MPG (top right), and MPG for Current Trip (bottom right)
B-Did you use the MGT mirror mount? (http://www.mgtmotorsports.com/bmsg.html)
No, I think it is too far away to be able to cycle through.
C-Is it in a Patriot?
Yes, not permanetly mounted because I have not decided on its final home. Right now it is in the cubby below the radio with the cable coming out the front. I want to put it somewhere easier to see while driving because I would prefer to use it as my Spedo, Tach and Economizer. I don't want it where I have to reach through/behind the steering wheel to change its setting. Centered on the front edge of the dash (directly above steering wheel) would be good if it were to look "built in"
E-Do you have to access the buttons frequently?
Yes, whenever my daughter rides she is constantly asking me to change the colors (her favorites are purple, green, and orange which look really good with the blue green of the radio ).
6-Do you have any pics to post?
Nope.
