Sometimes flaws are not a quality control problem.
The previous owners of Chrysler made many changes and not always for the best. Originally the copper welding tips were replaced prior to every shift and the best quality sealant was used.
A change was made and copper tips were replaced every two shifts, cheaper sealants were bought. Assembled sunroofs arrive from their manufacturer and are installed on the line using sealant.
This in a small way might explain the poor roof welds and sealant leaks over time. Inferior sealant dried out and welds gave way.
Every vehicle goes through a water test prior to being shipped and did not leak then.
A family member works at Chrysler and feels the new owners, Fiat, are more interested in supplying products over the long-term not just generating the most profit and getting out. Too bad the same can't be said about the two previous owners.
My Pat is on order and I look forward to receiving it and feel much better about the "leak" problem.
