: Job 1
BigDuke6 09-09-2006, 08:36 PM I know this thread was here before, but I couldn't find it.
Anybody have solid confirmation on when Job 1 for the Patriot is supposed to be?
LoneWolf 09-19-2006, 11:48 AM Nothing I could find up on the DCX media site yet. (Of course, they're often woefully behind on information -- imagine that!)
BigDuke6 09-24-2006, 07:12 PM Anybody heard any updates yet???
rockstars 09-24-2006, 09:16 PM Still in pilot stage.
I belong to both the DCX media site and the DCX media blog and there has been no word yet on Job 1.
rockstars 09-28-2006, 01:20 PM Does this include the pilots that have been built?
BigDuke6 10-10-2006, 11:16 PM Anybody heard any updates??
rockstars 10-14-2006, 06:12 PM Still in pilot stage.
And again.
frosty 10-16-2006, 09:20 AM As indicated on other websites and threads, Patriot production is set to start Dec. 11 and on dealer lots in Jan.07
BigDuke6 10-17-2006, 11:28 PM I would assume that Jeep will be doing some sort of press testdrives on the Patriot prior to production, as they did with the Compass. Hopefully that will be happening soon!
Captain Crash 10-18-2006, 01:34 AM And hopefully they're more exciting than the lame beach "offroading" they let the Compasses do.
HoosierMud 10-18-2006, 05:10 PM . . . but that is the type of off-roading the Compass WAS designed for . . . not everyone wants to be an off-road warrior.
pdxbubba 10-19-2006, 11:20 PM that may have been what the Compass was designed for, but hopefully the Patriot was designed for more.
I'm not dogging the Compass beach video. I just hope that the Patriot video shows it doing a bit more.
HoosierMud 10-20-2006, 05:58 PM I really want to see some video of the Patriot plowing through some deep snow--since I drive thru one of the worst lake effect snow areas in the country.
My impression is that it will much more off road capable than the Compass; however, it won't come close to what my XJ is capable of performing off road.
That's fine with me, if I get one it will be mine (more likely the wife's daily driver) to work.
I really think a lot of people have way too high of expectations of what the Patriot will be capable of doing off road. While I believe it will be a tough vehicle, it is NOT a Wrangler or Cherokee.
charlieB 10-20-2006, 08:38 PM This will be my wifes daily driver.I live on a mountain top that also sees alot of snow. Our main concern is that it will give her the peice of mind that she can get to and from work.
HoosierMud 10-20-2006, 10:01 PM Actually, the Compass is probably capable of doing quite a bit more than what is shown in the video.
ktek01 10-21-2006, 06:29 AM The Caliber, Compass, and Patriot are all on the same car based platform, from the Mitsubishi Lancer to be specific. They should each be capable of handling severe weather conditions on the road, and should perform well in snow. The Patriot may even be capable of some very mild off roading once in a while, but if you are looking for a serious off road machine none of these are for you. That said, I like the Patriot mainly for the looks. Ive driven the Caliber and the Compass in both FWD and AWD, with the CVT and with the manual transmission. The ride and handling is pretty much the same for both, they are comfortable and they handle well. The CVT works fine and is not sluggish at all, it just feels that way because there is little sensation of accelleration from it. When you look down at the speedo or in your mirror at traffic you usually find yourself going faster then you thought, it just takes a little getting used to. I think anyone looking for an all weather car with SUV like cargo capacity that gets decent gas mileage will be very happy with any of the 3 choices from DCX.
charlieB 10-21-2006, 09:23 AM I agree. Our main concern is weather.Three times in the last couple of years I had to go off road due to floods and washed out roads. The Patriot seems to be exactly what we are looking for.
HoosierMud 10-21-2006, 10:53 AM If the Patriot is capable of outperforming our old Subaru we owned, then I will be impressed. The Subie was very capable of getting us thru any snowstorms we encountered here in NW Indiana.
charlieB 10-21-2006, 07:55 PM Same goes for our Mazda. It is decent in the snow. But this time I think we are looking for something more. And with gas costing what it does these days, the Patriot fills all the squares.
aliens8443 10-21-2006, 08:00 PM And, the most important thing ... it's a JEEP!!!!!!!!
charlieB 10-21-2006, 08:48 PM Well, thats my intention.Somehow,I just cant see us in a RAV4 or CRV.My wife looked at a Subaru Forrester and didnt like it.So we'll just sit and wait for the Patriot.

Source? I doubt it since DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi no longer have any affiliation whatsoever.

Many including DCX. They would be quite surprised to hear they have no affiliation whatsoever, especially the DCX employees at the GEMA factory where the DCX/Mitsubishi/Hyundai World Engines are built.

Rottenbob 11-25-2006, 02:24 AM According to Edmunds.com, "The Compass is a sister vehicle to the Dodge Caliber and Mitsubishi Outlander."
As for similarities to the Caliber, Edmunds.com says "Compass is not simply a Dodge Caliber with Jeep badges tacked on... the Compass' body is 2 full inches taller... approach to departure and break-over angles is much more aggressive on the Compass.... it has the off-road guts [for] playing beyond the pavement."
This gives me hope for the Patriot.

HoosierMud 11-25-2006, 07:57 AM In that Edmund's article, the most important sentence--in my opinion--is where it states: ". . . it has the guts to help get people hooked on playing beyond the pavement." Think future purchases of Wrangler, Liberty, even Patriot, Grand Cherokee, and, heck, even Commander.

X2
It will work both ways. If someone gets a Patriot/Compass as their first car. Get'em hooked and hopefully they well get a Wrangler, et al next. Or for guys like me who already have a TJ. Considering it will only get taller/heavier, gas prices, and family I'll need a daily driver.
BigDuke6 12-18-2006, 04:37 PM So, do ya think Job 1 will be this Wednesday as advertised??
BigDuke6 12-19-2006, 07:28 PM Okay, tomorrow is supposed to be THE DAY that the Patriot starts production!! Hopefully someone will be able to tell us if it happens or not.
