I only know of one place. And that's "The Mounds" in Genesse County. Not too sure if the Patriot could handle it though. It's probably best to go on a Sunday because that's when "wegotmud.com" is there with there big lifted trucks to pull you out if you get stuck.

Yes I know of the mounds and no the patriot wont make it through there. Oh well. I have a place up north near the manistee national forest. I suppose I could do some two-tracking there. Thanks

I hate to be that guy, but without 4 wheel drive or recovery points, why are you even thinking of offroading with your new rig? Oh well, at least it's under warranty.

The first five pictures are from the Manistee Nat'l Forest. We were up there about a month ago. We are going back in a couple weeks. As long as you are aware of the trails, and it doesn't rain hard, you shouldn't have any problems.

That looks like a great place for a drive in the Forest. How far a drive is that to get there.

These are just west and a little north of Big Rapids in the Manistee Nat'l Forest. I probably couldn't find this particular trail again, unless it was by accident.

What was told to me when I picked up my OHV sticker, was I could drive any Forest Service road that was open. The only limitations I had was I could not travel on ATV or motorcyle only trails with my Jeep. There are a number of trails in Mannistee and a whole lot more in the Huron National Forest, which we haven't been to yet.

The BLM, or whoever is in charge of mapping all these trails, are just now putting together a map for Mannistee. There is one out, but it is very incomplete. The one for Huron National Forest is much more complete. Here is the link to the Huron Nat'l Forest service road, ATV and motorcycle trails. Hope this helps: http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hmnf/pages/Recreation/pdf_files/MVUM_HuronNF_East_ANSI_D_300dpi.pdf

Will, if we would drive straight from our house, I'm thinking it is about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Of course if I let the wife drive, it would be about 2 1/2 hours:-)).
When we went up a few weeks ago, though, we spent one night in Kalamazoo, MI and then headed up north the next morning.

I was told by the MI DNR that if you have a road licensed vehicle you could ride 2 tracks and service roads without a off road vehicle sticker, but if you were going off trail, like in the dunes, you needed one. I am a MI resident.

Maybe since I am out-of-state, they sock the extra fee on for the sticker?

Maybe? I guess the rationale was that if you had a MI plate you were paying for the access to the trails and maybe since you are out of State you need to pay the fee.

Just got back from spending a day up at the Manistee. I would definately not go there when/after it rains without 4WD. We hit some trails that I don't think a FWD Patriot could handle with the mud and holes. If you do go w/o 4WD, make sure you have a towing partner that has 4WD capability!

As luck would have it, my wife thought I picked up the camera and I thought she did. Neither one of us did so we have no pictures to show.

We had to take the JGC since it is the one with the ORV sticker:-((.
