So the new CRD deisel can't pass emissions in 5 states. So now y'all see why DCX has been hesitant to release the diesel? Give the engineers a couple years to work out the kinks and it'll become commonplace.

Are there any other car companies that sell diesels in the US? I can't think of any, so at least DCx is trying.

Is it even legal to own one of the upcoming Bluetech diesels in one of the states listed--or are they just not SOLD in those states? Will one even be able to plate the vehicle, if it doesn't pass emissions?

I was actually wondering the same thing...

I would be pi$$ed if I bought a diesel, then moved to a state where it didn't meet the standards and wouldn't let me register it...

I read up on the NY inspection/emissions information, and there seems to be nothing preventing a diesel car from being registered...

Diesel-powered vehicles with a GVW of 8,500 lbs. or less are not subject to an annual emissions inspection.

So I think the restriction is only on selling. I was reading about the VW Beetle which has a diesel, and dealers are not allowed to sell that car to a resident of NY, CA, etc. So it looks like that you can't just buy a diesel from a dealer in a neighboring state to overcome the diesel restriction.
