For what its worth:
Nissan Xterra
-curb weight: 4451 lbs.
-crawl ratio: 21.6:1
-ground clearance: 9.5"
-approach/departure: 33.2/29.4
-265 hp @ 5400, 284 lbs. @ 4000
Jeep Patriot
-curb weight: 3316 lbs.
-crawl ratio: 19:1
-ground clearance: 9"
-approach/departure: 28/32.1
-172 hp @ 6000rpm, 165 lbs. @ 4400
Besides the engine power and frame, the Patriot doesn't look tooooooo shabby against this known off-road performer. Especially, when you look at the difference in weight.

Hmmm Intresting. What about breakover angle?
By the way power really doesn't matter much when you are in such a low range gear crawling at 5mph. It's more a matter of traction to the ground, how many wheels are in the air, how wide the tires are, how low the tire pressure is. how much side wall you have.

I'm mostly interested in how closs the crawl ratio is.....
Of course, the Xterra is equipped with a rear locker and probably better suspension.....but my point is, the Patriot has some basic makings of a capable vehicle......................again, and now more than ever, I want to see what it does.

Don't forget the Patriot has Brake Traction Control, so it serves function like a LSD would, giving power to the wheel with more traction then the one that is spinning/slipping.
It's not exactly as good as a locker but its better then an open differential.
