:D hope you like. Designed a little bumper guard with a winch and LED lightbar, widened flares, an obvious lift and tire change; signals on the mirrors.. and long-travel suspension system.. too bad I can't print this into reality.

Let me know what ya think as always :smiley_thumbs_up:

Send this in to Chrysler! You never know. Tell them something like... "As an American, I am worried about you cutting the Patriot from production. Too bad. Build something like this... and WE will come!"

BTW... on the hood, driver side, was that an attempt at some sort of vent??? If not, well, it actually looks cool. Try "installing" one on the other side.

Well done, as always, Suz.
And a perfect picture to start with too.

I'm surprised how much I like the look of those turn signals on the mirrors.

what a bad-@$$ picture. have you thought about going into industrial design and landing a job with Jeep? :smiley_thumbs_up:

for real, i would contact Chrysler/Jeep and tell them that you have ideas and would like to submit some of them. i presume that you aren't trying to achieve any patent rights or compensation, rather you are just trying to help Jeep come up with better designs that you (and the rest of us) can purchase.

i would be very surprised if they were not interested. i'm sure you would be able to send them directly to their marketing department/design department as a "consumer recommendation" .

with these types of things, a hard-copy letter (with tracking and signature) would do you the most justice...versus an email or phone call. print these pictures out on photo paper, organize them based on the type of mo, and make sure you use the proper resolution. i am positive that it will find its way to the right person. in your letter you can state that you would like to receive a call that the packet was received.

do it! :smiley_thumbs_up:

All these wonder "what if" Patriots. Now if Chrysler would give us straight axles and a real transfer case we'd be a real force on the trails. (like mighty mouse) but a force none the less.

I really like the mirror marker lights.

<snip> I really like the mirror marker lights.

Ditto on the mirror marker lights.

Would also like the long-travel suspension system. I plan to investigate whether the FDII coils/shocks are different than the FDI. If they are, I may go for them. Also, with three and about to be four model years to choose from, one model year of the FDII suspension may be better than the rest.

Nice work on the overall concept.

You don't really need a straight axle do do well offroad. Long-travel suspensions really work well with what the Patriot already has; making it much more flexible off-road. Hell - it really doesn't even need to be 4x4 - it could be just RWD.

Just...WOW
nice project and everything is possible to have a lift kit, bumper guard, light light-bar,bigger tires,,,,
did you saw the different tire on back wheel????

suzq044
07-18-2009, 01:41 AM
yeah; it was my stock wheel I just re-textured it.

as far as the "long-travel" suspension; it's a "long(er) travel" lol -- better triangulation than it has, without the rear engine that trophy trucks have.. and a little more street plausible. :D

I think Chrysler`s aim was to penetrate the light SUV market with the Pat. For people wanting the Jeep image in an exclusive styling for all around utility and driving, some light off road tracks while still having a "civilised" look acceptable and likable by most. I dare say that most customers thinking of buying the Pat wouldn`t be too crazy about lifts, grabber tires, winches, bush bars, etc. because they don`t need or even like them and they would raise the price of the Pat considerably, inhibiting one of it`s major selling points The mods you`re suggesting look real nice and all but those try to shift the Pat into a serious off road category it wasn`t meant for in the first place. Jeep has the Liberty and Wrangler for that and why on Earth would he want to build competition against his own other products? The Pat is a SUV designed for mainly on road driving with car like handling, comfort, mileage and good cargo volume, with available 4x4 traction for added safety and capability for some light off roading. All that in an exclusive Jeep design and for an unbeatable price too and that`s why people like and buy the Pat.

Suzq, you are the QUEEN of the photoshop! I'm soooo jealous! Great pic mods, but if it just had a roof basket with some off-road lamps and the spare mounted in it, it would be PERFECT! :smiley_thumbs_up:

Actually; I changed my mind - It's got Liberty Renegade roof-lights and a modified stock roof rack.. fully stocked of course.

Love it, except the top light bar; the bubbly look just never fits right on the Pat - hence my distaste for the new interior. How 'bout the same LED lights on top?

I'm actually considering building mine for expedition. It'll take a LOT of money and time, but it is doable.

EXACTLY! There are different Jeeps with different capabilities for different market segments. The availability of a 4x2 Wrangler shows all too many are going to Jeep for image rather than for actual offroading. That being said said the photos are still VERY COOL.

The Patriot was originally planned as a cheap 4x2 Station wagon for Families. An entry level car to tempt people to the Jeep brand & as a bed for the 2lite & 2.4 World engines developed with Mitsubishi. More or less a Caliber/Patriot CVT cheap small car. Its come a lot further & been developed a lot more than first mooted . I doubt wether Fiat have any plans for further development....Apart from maybe dropping it along with the Caliber & Compass.

That original photos is exactly what I'm looking for for mine. A better bumper, a good brush guard, and a winch. I keep looking "sigh"

I drive through brush, and could have used the winch once last winter.

I have to get that damn ESP to be able to turn off though. Got stuck once in a deep field of snow, sort of like snow cone ice, and couldn;t get it to spin to get out. With chains on, it should have soun the wheels till the chains hit the dirt under the snow, and got itself out, but it wouldn't spin the tires.

Man that just looks sick. I wish and hope that one day these items will be available, I think folks were hoping the same when the cherokee came out, and now look at it...a cultural icon with an over abundance of available parts. Nice work man, keep it coming.

This one is more "photoshop friendly" IMO, not as much going on as in the other picture, and more room to play around with resizing the background to make it fit.
