Last weekend my wife and I drove the Patriot to Kananaskis and hiked to Troll Falls. I think it is about a 3km hike round trip from where the parking and trailhead are.

The pictures certainly dont do the falls any justice, they were quite impressive and larger then expected.

On another note, this is the first relatively long drive we have taken the Jeep on (about 300km), and I very much enjoyed it.

Very nice falls. Nice drop, and nice cliff. Pictures never do justice to waterfalls or nature in general. I checked a new one yesterday here in the Keweenaw of Michigan. We have about 100 waterfalls in a 70 mile radius. This one is one of our more spectacular ones. 3K is not a bad hike for that quality of a waterfall.

Another thing the stills can't capture was the noise.

While it wasn't "deafening" it certainly was very loud and we almost had to yell to be heard.

I expect if we searched some more we could locate all sorts of falls in this area, being situated next to and amongst the Rocky Mountains.

You are right. The pictures don't capture the noise. Ya kinda have to be there to enjoy them completely. Thanks for sharing the pictures though. You did a good job capturing the falls. Having some background in the picture/experience deficit, I can get a pretty good image in my head of what it would be like to view them.

Nice pics...I'll have to visit same in the future. Another very popular 'falls' hike in K-Country is taking the Ribbon Creek Trail to Ribbon Falls (16 kms / 10 mi round trip). Elevation gain is 1.000 ft. via a very gentle grade. One can bike in the first 3.5 kms, at which point there is a bike stand provided to leave your 'steed' and hike in the rest of the way (which one could also choose to ride if they were proficient at technical singletrack). I've done this bike/hike on 3 occasions, with different people each time.

Haven't take the Pat out to K-Country yet....the drive down Hwy 40 never fails to inspire! :D

This IS an awesome hike and bike, but you are prohibited from biking the top 6 km. We made it to the top and used the chains for the last bit at the top. Luckily the Jeep seats are washable as it rained and we were mud soaked by the time we got to the bottom.
