I just ordered a 2008 jeep patriot full loaded and I want to know if it just the ipod that the radio will recognize??

it will read any mp3 player. Just pick yourself up a 3.5mm audio cable with two male ends and you're good to go!

As Gaze said, any mp3 player will work thru the headphone out into the aux in on the radio. Control of the player is still on the player.

But the iPod is the only one that can be controlled thru the steering wheel controls and radios using the Mopar iPod Integration kit. iPod stays in glove box.

I am right on the verge of ordering one. (iPod integration) ..I think

I am going to be installing a REC unit so I will have the radio apart to hook it up, and I have a 1 gig iPod I haven't used in forever. I could throw it in the glove box and us it as my 'Jeep hard drive'.
