Anyone familiar with these two competeing services? Which do you prefer and why? I plan to visit a dealer with an order and want the best information I can get beforehand.

I used carcostcanada and ordered mine at invoice + their $300 admin fee.

Ditto. Plus with CARCOSTCANADA you get 5 reports for your money. After about 30 days you get an email asking for your feedback. Takes about 2 minutes, requires no personal info, and gets you 2 or 3 additional reports. You can even email one or more of your reports to a friend if you don't need them all.

The report the dealer showed me had the same prices, and I got dealer invoice plus a couple admin fees ($60 +165) so I saved just under $1200 off MSRP. Wait time is about 8 weeks, so I won't see it until early October. Time is passing slowly and it has only been 3 days!!!!!

When it comes to Chrysler insisting on 5-7% below MSRP will place you very close to the prices offered by Car Quote/CarCost Canada. The reports provided are nice as they break everything down for you.

Common sense also plays a role, soon as you see admin fees etc... go elsewhere. :icon_rolleyes:

I haven't use either service before, but would be interested in saving some $$$.

So what do you guys do, pay for these reports, take them to the dealership to use to negotiate with?

homac, so one should be able to get the car without these admin fees? Just the freight, PDI and regular taxes?

What has worked for me is to obtain the MSRP for the car including all options I want. This can usually be done on the website.

Then decide on a price you are willing to pay based on numbers found on the net, or you could use a quote from Car Cost Canada if that helps. Add GST, frieght and PDI as those are required.

When you actually go to the various local dealers ask them to give you their best price EVERYTHING INCLUDED, or ALL-IN. This makes it much easier to compare prices.

If they want to include some other fees, they can go ahead, hopefully you will find a dealer that wants your business more and is willing to forgo the couple hundred dollars to have you as a customer.
