Not jeep related, but since there was a long ipod thread a while back figured I would try here first. We finally got an ipod and it works great through the aux outlet on the radio (we don't have the fancy patriot ipod connection). Trying to get the FM transmitter to work and on all frequencies there is a ton of static and it won't hold the signal.

I may just get a piece of that sticky stuff to keep the ipod from slipping in the compartment under the radio, but wondering if anyone has a FM transmitter that they can recommend?

For those times that you do not want to use the aux. plug, the Monster Ipod FM transmitter works the best, from all the ones we've tried. It was approx. $90 CDN and it works great. Sometimes, you can still get a little static but not much and not often. We have tried the Griffin one and some other no name one and they were awful. Monster all the way.

We have the Sat Radio and so we lost the aux. plug - UGGGH! B/C I like taking my Ipod with me but... c'est la vie! Thanks

Yeah, with the upgraded stereo and Sat Radio, you lose the Aux port. Doesn't that make sense??

When I ordered mine they gave me the 9 spkr Boston Acoustics group which was supposed to include the standard radio with aux port, Sat radio, and the 9 speakers. That AUX port is too important to loose so I think I'll take a trip to the dealer tomorrow just to make sure they ordered it right.

We have the 9 speaker Boston system, 6 cd changer, Sat radio and no Aux plug. The guy who sold us ours really didn't know that much about it. There were several things that they did not know if it was standard or an option on the Limited. We lost the Aux plug which we would have like to have kept for our Ipod, especially on a Road Trip but... not much choice in the matter. There is always the option to get the Mopar Intergrated Ipod kit but for $400 CDN, I could always just use my FM Transmitter : )

You may not lose your Aux plug with the standard radio. I would check with the dealer and hopefully, yours knows more than ours did!

If the Mopar IPod adapter is $400 CDN, ya might want to buy one at a US dealer if you can. The Jeep website lists the top-line adapter for the Patriot, there are 3 and the top-line one uses the CAN-B bus to control the IPod with the radio buttons at $215 US. Here's the info:

82209617AB Audio, iPod Interface iPod Integration Kit- Fully integrated adapter provides iPod control through your vehicle's audio system controls. For use on models equipped with Can-B style audio systems. Radio functions and displays vary between vehicle model and audio system. $215.00

With today's exchange rate that should be nowhere $400 CDN. If that's including installation, it's really a rip-off as the IPod adapter is basically a jumper harness that plugs into the back of the radio with a cable that comes off it to plug into the IPod. In the driveway, an hour tops, you can do it yourself easily.

Unfortunately I dont have a lot of faith in my dealer's knowledge either at this point. I think I'll go back tomorrow just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the info...

I've used the iTrip in the past, and it seemed to work pretty darned well.

My iTrip works very well, at work, on home stereo, Patriot, minivan, motorcycle, etc. Occasional interference, but good overall.

For those times that you do not want to use the aux. plug, the Monster Ipod FM transmitter works the best,

This is a little late, but..x 2. I've had a Monster iCar Play (http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCarPlay-Wireless-Transmitter-Charger/dp/B000H72MMU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-2406155-1428120?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1184816507&sr=8-2) for a couple of years and like it a lot (would prefer an AUX input, but anyway).

I also bought a Kensington (http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Digital-Transmitter-Charger-Black/dp/B000IT600W/sr=8-2/qid=1167371734/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-7983486-8424160?ie=UTF8&s=electronics) for my brother earlier this year and he likes it too. It was highly recommended by ilounge.com at the time. Another deciding factor was that there is one less 'part' as compared to my Monster (i.e., the radio station presets are located on the charger itself, rather than on a separate display piece).

Both are FM Transmitter/Charger combos.
