: Chrome?

I was browsing through some chrome add ons for the Patriot and I became interested. I like the idea of chroming out the side view mirrors and door handles with the chrome stick ons that I've seen on a few websites. Has anyone used any of these? I like the idea that it sticks right over the existing piece, but I guess I'm nervous as to how good it will look. Does anyone have any previous experience, either good or bad? Here's what I'm considering, the chrome stick ons for the door handles and side view mirrors, and a stick on for the grille on the front. I've also seen chrome that goes on the plastic bars in the holes on the grille, but if I get grille outlined in chrome, that may be overdoing it. While, any advice or previous experience is appreciated!

Welcome to the forum, royalbh. The chrome inserts are a DIY affair, using self-adhesive plastic chrome door edge trim, cut into 9" lengths. Takes less than an hour. Cost is less than $20.

I've had the grill, door handles, and mirror covers for over a year now and I'm very happy with them. The door handles and grill look like my Riot came from the factory with chrome. The mirror covers are nice but you can definitely tell they are just a cover. That doesn't mean they are bad looking though. There is a guy on ebay under the name of hubcapsplus where I got all my chrome from. You can also visit his website at wheelskin.com.

I did the door handles, lots of compliments from non Patriot owners and questions from Patriot owners asking what model I have that includes them?

Good to hear, I guess my biggest concern for the door handles specifically, was that they may become loose or somehow impede the function of the handle being that they fit over the existing handle. So they're very sturdy as if they were permanent?

I've had no problems or worries about them. Taking it to the touchless carwash a couple of times a month and they still look factory installed.

The adhesive is pretty strong, only time will tell. Worst case they would have to be reattached with new strips.

Agreed. When I attched my chrome mirror covers not all of the tape adhered. This was due to the shape of the cover not exactly matching the contours of the original mirror. But with the adhesion promotor used correctly they dont want to move at all. Thankfully.
