: First trip back to the shop...

After having my Patriot home and doing a nice 1 hour walk around have noticed two issues that seem pretty big to me. First I noticed there was a rock chip in the paint along the front wheel well and in the center its starting to rust, I only had the vehicle for 2 days so I am assuming it was there when I got it. The bigger issue was the gap in the hood where it meets the pillar on the passenger side. The hood is actually touching the pillar and on the drivers side it is about a half inch off the body. The side that the hood touches is actually buffeting in the wind on the highway and is rubbing the paint off the pillar.
Went back to dealer and they want to take it from me overnight to have the hood aligned and paint the chip and pillar. Dont want to go without my new ride but want it in perfect condition and need to take it to Newfoundland for a week so in to the shop it goes.
Besides that everything else is great and approaching 1000 km on the odometer.

That is great to hear that they are going to take care of it! Hope that the touch-up comes out ok!

Yeah, great news about the fix ups! It's really good that you caught the 'trouble spots' early because some dealers are harder to work with than others.

Took it right in the next morning and they aligned the hood and actually were able to buff out the dimples the hood made in the pillar. Looks like new again, some creative touch-up paint work and the chip in the wheel well is hidden from the naked eye. Woohoo my Jeep is perfect! They are actually great to deal with and gave me $250 mopar accessory credit as well.

congrats on finding a good dealer, all the ones I have tried in LA-LA land (read LA,Cal) have been less than ideal...

Same thing happened with me and my hood and I recently noticed it starting to do it again. I took it into my dealer originally and they fixed it. They said it was just a little lose and sometimes they come from the manufacturer that way. It's only very noticeable on the highway (feels like it's going to fly off). Anyway, keep your eye on it and maybe ask the dealer how you can adjust it yourself. I'm going back as soon as mine is fixed up for a full servicing and I'm going to do just that.

My 2007 Patriot's hood is flapping in the wind and seems like it is going to fly
off when you are going 65 mph or more.. This sounds like it is a factory problem
and a recall should be done.. I have only 15,000 miles, so I guess I'll take it back
to the dealer to see what they can do.. but I guess they won't have a recall
unless someone gets hurt from it flying open and hitting the windshield..

May I suggest a search on the well known subject here and a look at the following thread for a cure

glad you had a good experience,
mind sharing dealers name/location to give them credit in case anyone is in the area.

Glad to hear the dealer is taking care of the issue, be sure it's documented onthe wrk ordesince the "flappen hood" as a big issue awhile back.
