I love it. It looks a lot like a mini version of the Jeep Rescue concept: http://www.edmunds.com/news/autoshow/articles/100916/page020.html

Rumor has it that this is going to come with the same new engines of the Wrangler OR the 5.7L Hemi (4-door only).

http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosconsumer/0504/27/G03-163248.htm

That's an old link above, but there were more recent articles that I can't seem to find anymore that say the same thing.

I like this too, but with gas prices going up, I might just get a Patriot for my DD to go with my 2001 Wrangler.

People have been saying that Jeep needed vehicles with better gas mileage, so Jeep has done it.

People have been wanting a Wrangler with an easier to remove hard top, so Jeep has done it.

People have been wanting a more practical Wrangler that has 4 doors, so Jeep has done it.

So now I want a Jeep with good gas mileage AND a removeable top so I don't have to decide between the 4-door Wrangler and Patriot :-)

I actually want both. The Patriot to be my DD with Trail rated capability and good MPG, and the 4-door Wrangler to go off-road, haul more stuff, and look good doing it. Of course, I won't get rid of my 2002 Wrangler Sport either.

of course regis and kelly pulled a white sheet off a 4-door wrangler yesterday morning on their show (which would have been several hours before the firefighters' event). R & K also had another SUV (maybe it was a Mitsubishi?) which had a kicking stereo (large -- approximately 10" in diameter? -- built into the side wheel wells in the hatchback.

eva mendes revealed a patriot at the firefighters' event also, but there is really only one picture of the patriot at the jalopnik website (and the picture is not that great).

also, one of the posters at jalopnik mentioned a vw motori diesel 4-door wrangler being available in early 2007. if the poster is correct, i wonder if this will be available in the u.s. (or any of the rest of north america). i would also assume that it would be a non-BlueTec CRD (maybe even the same 2.8L vw motori CRD that has been built into 10,000+ libertys).

by the way, dawnwoo, i think bigduke6 is referring to "Daily Driver"

Looks great to me. However, DC, get some half doors on that thing if you're gonna reveal it to the public without the top!!! The full doors on the hardtop look great - gives me visions of the American answer to the Defender 110. Finally offroad prowess and the ability to haul people and stuff too!

From the official press release (see JeepNewsNow.com for a complete version):

For key diesel markets outside North America, a diesel engine will also be available — for the first time in a Jeep Wrangler — with a five-speed manual transmission

Looks like there is about a month before this goes into production... I would like to see some photos of the real model.

Here is a link to another board that has some pics of the 07 Unlimited in Colorado where it was being tested. This one looks like it is missing the Rubicon Wheels and tires, but at least it is something to look at.

I wonder if that is an 'actual' model or not. The quickest give away is the lack of childseat restraints on the back of the rear seat. I can see the rear seats on that one... though it does look very similar to the one they've been showing off for a bit.

I would have thought that they would at least start putting out some info on package prices and stuff.
