Hey Everyone

Cant wait to see one of these babies! My question is in regrds to the transmission options... It is clear that you can get the manual with the front wheel drive and the regular 4 wheel drive option - i forget what its called - but will the patriot be available with the freedom II 4 wheel drive and a manual transmission? It seems lik every time i ready about the freedom II option, they follow it up by talking about the CVT automatic option. I want to stop getting myself so excited for the release if i cant even get the freedom II with a 5 speed

I too would like FD2 with the 5 speed but I don't think that is going to happen. As near as I can figure that gear reduction system is married to the CVT and that can't change. Hope I'm wrong but don't think so.

As you can see in Design your Patriot (http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206).

The FD2 option ($2,280) is only availbale with the CVT II-L option ($950).

BTW FD1 price was $1,520

Patriot is right, the low range ratio is a function of the CVT2-L transaxle. In order to offer the 5-speed with low range, they would need to go with a transfer case, which was judged too expensive for these vehicles (Compass & Patriot).
