Just ordered a Cobra 75 WX ST all-in-one CB radio with Firestik LG3-M2-B antenna kit that includes a flush-mount antenna receiver, 17' cable, and 3' antenna. Also got a spring to the antenna doesn't get beat up.
The plan, as it sits right now without having the gear to inspect, is to mount the antenna to the rear bumper in front of either side tail-light as not to interfere with the lift-gate. Thought about mounting it to the side of the truck, but concern over it getting ripped off, or a bad seal and leakage put the x on that. I'm planning to mount the j-box (unit that accepts the mic cable and antenna cable) inside the center console behind the hazard-light switch area. I'm then hoping to use the space to the right of the hazard-light switch to mount the receiving mic connector to.
Thought I'd start a new thread to see if anyone has further suggestions or insight. I'll let you all know how this goes, with pics of course!

I am using a Wilson magnet mount and a huge Cobra 29WST on the dash. I was thinking of welding up a mount that will attach to the frame (where the tow hook attaches) and come under the bumper for mounting.

I got the CB and Antenna kit in today. Unfortunately, I forgot my tools at work, so the project will kick off Monday evening. I'll post pics of progress then. First problem I found is that the connectors for the mic to the j-box are backward in my opinion. The j-box side has the nut that screws on to lock the two together. I would like the nut to be on the mic side so I can permanently afix the accepting connector to something and then attach the mic. I should be able to reverse the connectors however.

What are you using for an antenna?

Whew... So, two nights (about 8 hours total) and I'm 95% done! Last thing to do is solder on the j-box side connector. I'll come up with an instructional PDF of the job when I get a little time to think! Stay tuned.

That is an excellent antenna. When attaching the antenna ensure you have a solid electrical connection to the body of the vehical. Otherwise your SWR and in-turn signal will really suffer. (You may already know that, but thought I would commend just in case)
