: Black strip besides window comes loose
-Wouter- 05-30-2009, 01:55 PM On my new Pat the Black strip besides the window comes loose, the black part on the roof also looks a bit bulgy. On the passengers side it really bothers me.
Do more owners have this problem, what can be done against it ?

demolaysgirl 05-30-2009, 02:17 PM They basically have it taped down. I've taken mine in for replacement, and its right back where it started. Kinda annoying.
Maybe eventually they'll come up with some other solution besides 3M tape.
empsburna 05-30-2009, 05:11 PM Mine has lifted drivers side.
Not a case of "if", but "when"!
-Wouter- 05-30-2009, 05:33 PM Are both the strips on top of the roof and next to the window fitted with 3M tape?
Looks like they both might be refitted properly.
demolaysgirl 05-30-2009, 07:01 PM If I recall correctly, there's a TSB that gives instructions on fitting it in using 3M type automotive tape. I think that I actually found the TSB on this site.
-Wouter- 05-31-2009, 04:33 PM Thanks I found another tread: jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2532
You're right there should be a service bulletin out on this.
Didn't find the actual bulletin yet.
Keeping Fingers Crossed 05-31-2009, 06:55 PM Here..have a look in June 12th 07. its a piss poor fix in my eyes. Tape?..How much water is getting behind there ?

tazman900 06-01-2009, 11:12 AM I had that problem around the bottom of the windshield, and as mentioned it was just taped on. I brought it back to the dealer and they glued it on and haven't had the problem since.

-Wouter- 06-18-2009, 12:02 PM I glued the upper edges 2 weeks ago on with Two component epoxy,
Looks a lot better now.

sschetzsle 09-01-2010, 12:29 AM i just bought a 2010 limited; red; have only put a 1000 k on it and the same thing happened to me; dealership told me that they are in a "tentative" recall so keep your fingers crossed and the problem should b eraticated for all owners since it appears everyone has been having/complaining of this problem
2010patlat 09-02-2010, 08:01 PM I noticed that a couple days after I picked up my new jeep. It just seemed odd to me. I hope they come up with a permanent solution for this.
09PatSprt 09-02-2010, 08:39 PM Is this just happening on the 2010's?
PatriotMB 12-09-2010, 08:03 PM I'm glad you mentioned this. I first noticed this happening on my pat a couple days after I bought it. Since it was brand new I figured that's how it was made. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Next time I go to the dealership I'll have them fix it.
Denver Inferno 12-09-2010, 10:54 PM I asked the dealer to fix it on my 2010 during the second oil change. They said they had to order the part and would call me. They never called. I brought it up on the third oil change. When I picked it up it wasn't fixed. They said the part was never ordered and besides they showed me that the new part wouldn't be any better. I went to the parts department to pick up another part I ordered and they brought out the windshield strip. It was there all along but he wouldn't give it to me so I could fix it myself. I was supposed to set up another appointment with the service dept. Like I want to go through that kind of brain damage. BTW the other part ordered by the service department was the wrong part.
jeepersjeep 12-12-2010, 02:57 PM Maybe under the runs of this trim is where the water leak holes can be found? (that are not supposed to be there, unfilled apertertures etc.)
jeepersjeep 12-12-2010, 03:01 PM SOMEONE please email me re what the most common place of water entry is in LEAKERS patriots! (I have one). I've done all the dealer burns, sunroof replaced under warranty etc., still leaks.
****Now I'm thinking must be under these plastic fore to aft strips on top, some body glue etc. not done right OR the top of the windshield not affixed right?????
WHO HAS FOUND THE PROBLEM MOST COMMON!!!!??? :) :) (heellll-elp ....)
