Oregon Guard jet goes down off Oregon coast
An air combat training exercise pitting four Oregon fighter pilots against Texas Marines ended in tragedy this afternoon when an Oregon Air National Guard F-15 spiraled into the Pacific Ocean off Tillamook Head.
There was no sign of a parachute nor of a survivor; a single pilot was on board. A search involving Coast Guard cutters and helicopters and other military planes went into the night, but no progress was reported.
