Explains a bit about the 19:1 ratio.

So for comparison sake:

-A 2006 Liberty with 3.55 axle and 3.00 first gear (automatic?) and 2.72 lo-range = 28.96:1 final drive ratio.

-A 2006 Liberty with 3.73 axle and 4.46 first gear (manual) and 2.72 lo-range = 45.24:1 final drive ratio.

-A 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser is 41.8:1.
I don't know if anyone else put these numbers into perspective.

Actually these are crawl ratios....is that different than a final drive ratio? I think some sites use them interchangeably. On one hand, I think the Patriot's Final Drive Ratio is the Crawl Ratio because there is nothing left to calculate...there are no gear ratios, no transfer case ratios, and no axle ratios. On the other hand, the Liberty gives a final drive ratio of 3.73...which is also the axle ratio. Likewise, the Suzuki GV gives a 3.58:1/4.30:1 (manual/auto) final drive ratio and a 1.92 lo-range/transfer case ratio, and a 4.55/3.52:1 (manual/auto) first gear ratio....thus following the same logic as the Liberty, the crawl ratio should be 31.27/29.06 crawl ratio (final drive or axle ratio x first gear ratio x transfer case). If that is the case, then the Suzuki is superior to the Patriot in one aspect of off-roading and is only a fraction more in terms of cost. Or, do we simply compare the "final drive ratios" of the vehicles...in which case the Patriots far outnumbers both the Grand Vitara and the Liberty?
