 It looks like the Compass is kind of typecast as a "Girls Ride"? I don't think so, and like the overall looks and concept. I should add that my Wife likes the Compass very well too. Maybe I should drive my Liberty more? It's at least got a Trail Rated badge.:)

Whatever blows your skirt up... ;)

Sorry, but it came to mind and I couldn't help myself.

Drive whatever you want. I might be a bit more critical if it was a Hummer or some such other guzzler. Even then, it's your business.

But, I know what you mean. We do tend to try to project ourselves through our material stuff. It's difficult to be above it.

'Whatever blows your skirt up' is an old cliche' saying. I sometimes forget most all of you folks are much younger than I. My spouse still uses the saying generally to blow off what I'm promoting or trying to get out of doing...

I don't think the Compass looks too bad (looks sharp in green), but some Jeep traditionalists might give you some flak for driving one.

My wife loves the Compass because it is a Jeep "Car". She also loves here CJ Scrambler for hauling all of her gardening materials.

She identifies my Patriot as more of a traditional Jeep despite they are nearly identical under the sheet metal.

I actually like the Rallye Compass. I don't think these vehicles are gender specific. Just enjoy what you drive.

I must admit I took a long hard look at a Compass before I decided on Patriot , I even took a test drive . The only problem was my dealer didnt have a used Diesel at the time only a 2.4 Gas with CVT, also I still had concerns about over the shoulder rear quarter vision & the windscreen pillar blind spot. I had these concerns with my Caliber & was one reason for change.A week later a used Pat. Diesel Sport came in & the rest is history!!

I agree totally tiptronic, sight lines in the Patriot are by far the best of the three MKs.

Most traditionalists bawk if it doesn't have a straight front axle. :notworthy: When the Liberty first came out they said it's not a true jeep. But in time they learned to accept and even purchase the Liberty. Like Rottenbob says they do look good in green and with some add-ons look pretty cool. I see ALOT of women driving H2's, Wranglers, and every other SUV out there. Not just the manly men.:)

The answer is, of course.....YES! In addition, a 'real man' can wear a PINK SHIRT too! :smiley_thumbs_up:

You can drive whatever you want. I'm in Texas and some of my friends think my Patriot is funny for a man to drive. I remember when it cost about $100 to gas up their big trucks. They probably would have loved to be driving a Patriot last year :)

Is it Ok for Men to drive Compasses?

No, it's a Class C felony, punishable by a $10 000 fine and/or a 2 year prison sentence.

...Seriously, what the hell?!? Real men do their own thing instead of spending their time worrying about what someone else thinks about it. This "does it make me uncool if I do X?"-talk is the talk of overgrown boys.

It's funny I came across this topic. When I went out to the Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer this is roughly what happened:

Me: "I'm interested in a Jeep, let's go check out the Patriots, Wranglers and maybe the Compass"

Salesman: "You bet, but some people see the Compass as "the girl version" of the Patriot."

Me: "...Let's go look at the Patriots"

Hahaha. I didn't get the pat because of this statement, I got it for my own reasons. But seriously I do agree with everyone else, drive what you want and what you're proud of. And heck, you're trail rated and that's just badass in itself no matter what Jeep you're in!

I actually test-drove a Compass last night... Dean went with me and we both noticed that ride was smooth, the transmission didn't slip, and it felt roomy inside. Of course, it's not a Patriot so I wasn't sold... and it didn't help that the "dealer" was a lazy slug. The only "assistance" we got was him tossing the car key over and then walking away when we attempted to discuss price negotiation. What a schmuck... ha!

I laugh when I see a dood driving a Compass. Honestly, I don't think that the Compass should be a Jeep. Now I know that the same platform for the Pat is shared w/ Cmpass and Caliber, but at least the Pat looks a bit more substantial...*chuckles*

It's obviously a question of aesthetics not gender identification, unless one is particularly rigid or insecure in this regard. While the Pat follows in the quintessentially American Jeep tradition of boxy and utilitarian, the Compass takes cues from (not to say plagiarizes) more " sleek, sophisticated" European models like BMW X3, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo X60 etc. and slaps the trademark Jeep grill on.
The original question makes as little sense as asking whether women should drive Pats or Cherokees.

Ok, so my original question makes little sense to you. I was really just trying to get a conversation going and actually, I am not insecure about driving my Compass. I simply state that they have been typecast as a "Girls Ride", as most who view here would probably agree. I even drove mine tonight to my Son's Track Meet wearing a purple shirt! Making little sense still makes a conversation. Thanks for your reply.

Coming from a Mustang, I use to hear the exact same stuff from Camaro owners. Honestly, I think if you like a certain car, go with it. I think the Compass is a little more feminine interms of not being a box on wheels, and is more styled with a contemporary fashion. I think the Compass with some badass attachments like some off-road lights makes it a cool car.

As a female Patriot driver I have to say I personally don't think either the Patriot or the Compass are particularly "manly" looking vehicles. I like to think the Jeep brand overall represents "outdoorsy" rather than chic or stud cars. And outdoorsy is sexy and appropriate for either gender!

I looked at a Compass and Caliber as well but chose the Pat due to more cargo room.

I think I stated elsewhere on these boards that the Compass is to be relaunched in the UK. Slight mods , changes & tweaks---PLUS Mercedes Benz 2.2 litre diesel engine. Only in Sport mode ...Cheap Ģ14,500--It could well sell at this price & with this engine!!

Maybe my saying there on the same platform and there's a $2,000 rebate on Patriot verses a $500 for the Compass. Last year we decided to take the stimulus Chrysler was offering at $4500 even without a trade and got the Ralleye which my wife loves w/moon roof.
